What You Get When You Buy Patapon 2

1 min read

We reported recently that in line with circulating rumours, Sony would forgo the traditional UMD-based release for the sequel to their critically-acclaimed action-rhythm-RTS-adventure Patapon. The game will be, digitally distributed – but will paradoxically still have a retail release.

Sony have now released an image of exactly what you’ll be getting when you purchase your game-devoid box. The box art states that “No disc included. Memory Stick and access to PlayStation Network required.”

I rather liked the first Patapon – but I also rather like having physical media house my paid-for video games.

Editor. I’m old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time – they were capable of being masterpieces. I’m here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.

If there is a BIG price reduction… Then its a great idea…. But if you paying the same price as a normal game, I would like the physical media.

  • I’m very happy to see that they made it obvious the box doesn’t contain a disc though, that was one of my biggest worries

  • I would prefer getting the physical media, rather than
having to pay for it in store and then having to waste
bandwidth and time downloading it as well. :ermm:

  • The ironic thing is that it’s been available on PSN for download for over a month already. So if you someone was waiting for the physical media it must be a BIG let down.
