Our recently posted February NPD sales figures showed that Wii Fit was still selling pretty gosh-darned well. How well exactly? 6 million units well, to be precise. As of February, sales of Nintendo’s balance-board exercise simulator have exceeded that of Microsoft’s genre-defining Xbox 360 shooter Halo 3.
What makes this all the more impressive for Nintendo is that Wii Fit costs $30 more, and was unleashed on the casual gaming market a full 8 months after Xbox junkies had already finished the fight.
Of course, while Halo 3 recently celebrated it’s billionth online game, roughly 5.99 million Wii Fit boards sit in cupboards gathering dust.
