Will Destiny’s Raids get matchmaking?

Right now, the only way to tackle Destiny’s Raids is to have a group of high-levelled friends who want to get shot in the face repeatedly in the perpetual quest for better gear. That’s right; there’s no matchmaking for Raids – which means it’s impossible to jump in to a raid with a group of strangers for a few arduous hours of shooting. That could change.

Maybe.

According to Bungie’s David Dague, there may be some changes coming that include matchmaking for Raids.

“The Raid was designed for solid teams of killers who have made a commitment to solve a dense and explosive riddle. Most of the raiding parties who have emerged victorious from the Vault of Glass have sworn that one weak link would have doomed their chain.

“There have been other stories, of course. We’ve heard tell of Guardians who met each other just outside the door that leads into that vault. Strange tales have reached our ears – tales of total strangers who have banded together to see the Raid all the way through to a triumphant finale.

“Those stories surprise us, but the players of our games always have. The best I can do to answer your question is to let you know that you’ve been heard. We’re having conversations about how Matchmaking might support the more challenging activities in Destiny. It’s a start. Keep sounding off about it, and maybe someday some matchmade Fireteam mates will hear you, too.”

Destiny is still quite a lot of fun, and I know very many of you are still playing the thing, trying to farm for ascendant shards, but the game certainly has its issues. They’re encapsulated perfectly in this “Honest” trailer for the game, from the chaps at Smosh. It is, as its title suggest, honest – and 100% accurate.

Editor. I’m old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time – they were capable of being masterpieces. I’m here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.

  • Sir Rants A Lot Llew

Still say it would have done better if it wasn’t so over hyped

    • Hammersteyn

This is so true, people made it out to be the messiah of next gen gaming. Sadly you need to buy into the expansions to get everything out of this.

  • Marc O Polo

i’m looking for some “friends” on ps4 if anyone is interested!!!

    • Hammersteyn

add me PSN ID : hammer_steyn

  • Jonah Cash

Still having fun!! Need 15 more Crucible points to buy a legendary Auto rifle… Reached my 100 points cap on Sunday!! It will be reset later today so will go and get it quickly!!

    • Hammersteyn

We finished the raid last night at 1:30. It’s not that hard it’s just someone gets blindsided by a harpy or the teleporter doesn’t work properly

      • Jonah Cash

I can’t stay awake past 10:00 at night!!! Hahahaha

        • Hammersteyn

Me and @Sageville played till 2 again last night. My eyes burns

        • Hammersteyn

          O_o

Honest Trailer’s can be so honest. If only they made trailers before the game releases.

    • Hammersteyn

      Hahaha

  • FoxOneZA

You could see the Destiny hypetrain derailment from a 2km draw distance, there, over on the horizon 😛

  • ReaperOfSquirrels

lol! Border Halo Lands of Warcraft Online! XD XD XD

  • DarthZA

I’m still loving this game. The Crucible alone is worth buying the whole game. A mate of mine has been playing Crucible since level 3, and is now level 25. He has not played anything else as he says Crucible feeds his FPS addiction, and I fully agree. I feel no desire to go back to Halo or COD or Battlefield or any other game now.

  • CAE9872

Sounds more sensible – trying to find 5 people online at same time willing to do same thing…aint so easy!

    • DarthZA

The raids you can only do with up to 3 players.

      • Raids allow for a 6 – man (or woman) Fireteam.

A 3 – Guardian Fireteam limit applies to Strikes, Story and Patrol missions.

        • DarthZA

Thanks. Did not know that… I play mainly Strikes and Crucible, didn’t realize there were Raids as well…

  • Nikola

Well our little Lazygamer clan finished the raid last night at 1:30 though took us a while but we got it down now:) anyone interested as well we need some players for the raid let us know we raid Tuesday and Thursday!

    • Hammersteyn

So not tonight, phew need just a little bit of sleep 😛

      • Nikola

Ok we are on for tonight Malmarius and his brother will come we have the team set but we plan to start earlier we gonna do 20h00 to 22h00 as we all need sleep at 22h00 I am stopping the raid no matter how far are we I think it’s better that way….just check the clan page!!

        • Hammersteyn

          Cool beans

  • I like the idea that at least an option of matchmaking for Raids might be made available. And if it doesn’t work out for some players, then go and coordinate with your mates.

    • Hammersteyn

Yeah, at least give us the option

      • Hell, even the weekly Strike missions could do with a bit of matchmaking, as well.

  • Generic ZA

It’s a good thing Geoffrey used Raid canisters as a header pic, or else I’d certainly think that the idea of randoms matchmaking for a raid was Doomed for sure, even before it got off the ground.

    • You sure managed to get that Doomed Raid joke well within ‘Target’ 😛

No? Okay, then. I’ll see myself out.
