How confusing D4 looks

Ever heard of D4? If yo have a keen memory for games that really didn’t have a marketing campaign, you might remember seeing the Xbox One exclusive back at E3 last year. Since then it hasn’t really kicked up a fuss, which makes the surprise reveal of its super close release date so weird.

D4 is launching exclusively on the Xbox One…tomorrow. Yeah, how’s that for close. The news was revealed at TGS yesterday, with the downloadable title picking up a $15 price tag as well. D4 is also not a prisoner to Kinect anymore, with the game able to work with a controller as well.

“But what the hell is D4?”, I hear you asking. Standing for Dark Dreams Don’t Die, D4 is a murder mystery adventure, where protagonist David Young investigates the storage death of his wife two years prior. The catch here is that David can relive past events by touch certain items, allowing you to uncover new clues and leads.

The game also looks quite nice, with an emphasis on stylized, colorful cell shading. There also seems to be really weird motion mini-games, which doesn’t excite me that much.

If you’re still lost, you can check out the launch trailer below and probably get even more confused. It looks like one of those games that will attract a cult following rather than mass critical acclaim, but that’s just my view.

  1. The game looks shit. XIII was much better. If your cel shaded game can’t beat XIII then you shouldn’t bother.

Is it an “exclusive” exclusive, or a “nobody’s buying the xbox so we have to release it on other platforms” exclusive.
