Xbox One to be released on the 27th of November?

The retail release dates for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One haven’t yet been announced but one of the biggest retailers in the world has slapped a release date on the Xbox One; that date being the 27th of November 2013

XboxOneReleaseDate

As you can see, Amazon has the Xbox One available for pre-order with a release date set for the 27th of November.

Also if you order now you can save $0.03 … what a bargain.

However if you notice the fine print they do state that all they know is that the Xbox will be released in November and no specific date has yet been communicated through to them. But then why did they choose the 27th?

That’s after the heavy-hitting Call of Duty, Battlefield and Assassin’s Creed titles have already been released which means they would lose some vital sales. However it is a few days before Black Friday which would give them an awesome marketing win.

What I do love about the Xbox One initial release though is that you will receive a custom controller with the Day One insignia and a Day One achievement which is a must-have for achievement hunters.

lol, South Africans or their desire to have Day One achievements do not matter to Microsoft. In their minds, we’re all sitting under a tree, malnourished, and entertaining flies with our eye lashes.

Anyway, I need to go ride my lion.

I really think the first batch of Xbox Ones will be fine, for a change. MS have put a massive fan in the console, and a lot of vents. I really think the limited number of consoles is because they are trying to ensure another RROD saga doesn’t happen. We’ll see though.

Yeah, I doubt they’ll make the same mistake again, but you never know. This time, the quality of the BD drive might be the issue, or substandard and cheap components on the motherboards.

Considering the price of the console, and the size of it, I don’t think build quality will be as big of an issue. If the BD drive goes, at least you can still purchase digital.

Multiple European retailers are listing 13/11/13 as the PS4’s release date. If Xbox One does release 2 weeks later, it would be quite a blow to the console, which has already suffered enough negative PR and executive incompetence.

On that note: Executives are decision makers, primarily. Why are these guys SO bad at their jobs?
I feel sorry for the architects, technicians… everyone else at Microsoft basically.

Maybe their corporate culture is very rigid, which means office meetings involve the heads delegating, making decisions and everyone else (who should be saying “sir, I don’t think this will work”) just glad not to be unemployed during a recession.

All PS4 stock would be depleted by the time the X1 launches. That leaves the market clear for MS to capitalize on that unless consumers show zero interest in the console then they have big problems.

Sounds like you’re hinting at peer pressure will be making up the minds of prospective console buyers. After the recent internet outrage, I doubt PS4 gamers would be going online.

Consumers have choice to purchase which console they want. I can’t answer for all but there are exclusives on the X1 front that make the console worth having. Forza 5 at launch being one. Lack of GT6 on PS4 is underwhelming for a sim-racer nut like me. Sure I could get GT6 on my PS3, but I would be wanting some next-gen sim racing. That’s just me though.

Any news on how Skynet aka “Kinect 2.0” is going to work, now that you can always play your games offline? To me the only reason that the Xbox1 is still a no go is because of that. While the price isnt great, I will now not have to pay to play online.

You will likely find more games with ‘online modes’ such as multiplayer – and fewer traditional single player offerings. Think of Dark Souls, as an example. Playing it online is the best experience, imagine if they added a watered down single-player component, and made the normal meat of the game online-only. We won’t see it often, but if MS are serious about forcing people online, they will encourage more online content, and less offline support. Killer instinct, for example, doesn’t have a story mode. If you want to play offline, you can fight AI opponents, with no bosses or story attached. If you want a better experience, play it online. Likewise, who would play Forza 5 completely offline?

Yeah, Spycam is also a reason why it’s not on my list. With the whole spying fiasco in the states, and the fact that companies like Google, Facebook and even Microsoft MAY have contributed data makes me even less keen on being xboned.

If they make the spycam optional, then I might actually get an xbone down the line, as for now, “We’re negotiating…”. At least, it’s no longer, “I flatly refuse to get a bone”, so I suppose progress.

Exactly my point. Companies already sell my cell phone number and address details everytime I sign something. And the Kinect camera isnt like a PC that we can just turn it off if we want. How long before MS start selling camera info to partners for “marketing & research” purposes. AND THEN THERE IS THE WHOLE HACKING FIASCO. If people can hack into the PS servers, it wont be too difficult for them to hack into the cameras of XBox1 owners either, and again its not like we can install virus or hack protection like a PC.
Super dodgy man. it they make the camera optional, I am definitely keen for an Xbox, but until then……hell to the no.

The kinect camera can be switched off when the console is off? That much is confirmed. Not while the system is on though, or maybe even in standby if it auto-updates. Who knows at this point?

MS need to confirm the specifics for Kinect integration. I don’t think they will though, we will just have to wait until people have retail-build units.

MS are allowing people to speculate, and run with worst-case scenarios because they are refusing the engage said speculation.

I rag a lot on Killer Instinct, so I’m going to be positive for a change. I think the inclusion as a free launch title is a good idea. Ofc, you will be seeing a lot of Jago’s at first, followed by Jago counter-picks, but this shows that MS are embracing the F2P model. It’s a good-looking game to use as a benchmark (the excessive particle effects and detailed backgrounds in particular), that will encourage people to use their Xboxes online – if you have to download the game digitally, which is likely. It’s also very accessible, making it ideal as a game every Xbox owner will have.

Really you are that easily influenced? After what they said at E3 and their subsequent retraction there would have to do a lot more to get me to buy it. I’m an Xbox fan, but thinking of switching allegiances after that disastrous E3 showing. Even recently bought a PS3 for The Last of Us just to see if the PS4 might be to my tastes. At the moment the choice to me is simple PS4 or PC gaming. Microsoft have lost the plot and to add insult to injury they are forcing that crap Kinnect on every owner as well. The recent retractions are a start, but they need to do a lot more to turn things around.
