It’s official! 4K comes at a price, as Microsoft’s Xbox One X console will indeed retail for $499 on release this November. That’s a high price to pay for the Xbox One X, although Microsoft believes that it’s worth every penny to deliver on what they call the most powerful gaming console ever made.

On the local Xbox site, it seems that the console will cost an eye-water R7499 when it’s released locally.

According to Xbox.com, the new system will have:

Smoother gameplay

The 8-core Custom AMD CPU is clocked at 2.3GHz to bring enhanced AI, real world detail, and smoother interactions to your gaming.

Bigger worlds

12GB GDDR5 of graphic memory add speed and power to game performance to enable bigger worlds, further horizons, and quicker load times.

Life-like detail

A 6 Teraflop GPU enables 4K environments and characters to become more realistic than ever, with more detail and smoother animations.

Faster load times

Game graphics are faster and more detailed with 326 GB/sec memory bandwidth, to keep your gaming momentum flowing.

Thanks to @micmucza for the tip.

  1. Last year when the Scorpio was announced we were told it will cost 12k from a MS source. Happy to call him an ex source.

The question is: How many months will we have to wait before it’s available in South Africa?

I apologize, I wasn’t specific enough. By games I meant, EXCLUSIVE games. The list you posted is great, but how many of those can anyone play on the PS4 pro or PC.

Compare those to what Sony has to offer and honestly The X is looking like a very powerful console with not a lot of reasons to own it. It really needs SYSTEM SELLERS, people go out and but the Switch because its the only place to play Zelda and Mario Games and all that Nintendo has to offer (which is actually a lot), Sony can boast the likes of Uncharted, Horizon, God of War, Infamous, Days Gone, Death Stranding, Detroit Become Human, The last of US pt 2, Spider-Man.

These are games that when it comes down to it, I believe will cause people to go with the PS4 over the X1X if they haven’t already

Xbox one x or the Boney X is an undeniably stupid name. This is at Wii U levels of retardation. They should have just stuck with Scorpio… Xbox eleventy… Good grief!

A bit of a relief! With exchange rates I was preparing myself for R10 000. This will be my 1st venture into 4K gaming and I’m so ready and excited! Just wish I could’ve seen and experience the actual 4K gameplay shown at E3 last night instead of having to watch it in 1080 only……???

Had a look again and not sure if R7500 is correct, seems too good to be true? Only R500 more than PS4 Pro? Will pre order as soon as the option is available…….then to start saving for a reasonably priced 4K tv….???

I’m really hyped for this. R7500 is not a bad price to pay for “True Power”.

Assume, that like me, a lot of people do not have a TV capable of doing justice to this.

So, add just under R10k as well for a Samsung TV capable of 4k.

Is it worth it? Not for me.

I really want to experience 4k gaming but my TV is just 1080p so until that magically changes I’m not tempted to get this or the Sony PS4 Pro.

I do have to admit though the name Xbox One X is

    STUPID

Hmm, the price, although steep, is a lot less than what I thought it would be. The original Xbox one was also close to that price and has fell quite a bit since so maybe 3 years from now you can pick one up for R4000 more or less. Problem though is the TV, R10k plus this is a boatload to pay just for a gaming console.
