Xbox.com is lying

So after writing about Microsoft’s xbox disc replacement policy a few weeks ago and even stating that South Africa was covered it seems that I was wrong.

Well half wrong at least. According to Xbox.com the Xbox disc replacement program is applicable to us. In big black bold letters

THIS PROGRAM IS GOOD ONLY FOR XBOX 360 CONSOLE OWNERS IN COUNTRIES WHERE XBOX 360 IS SOLD AT AUTHORIZED RETAIL LOCATIONS.

Last I checked that would include South Africa, so I was more than a little surprised when I started getting messages telling me that South Africa was not covered.

I then sent an email through to customer care and after initially receiving some idiotic response asking me to phone them they got back to me with

Thank you for your email, The disc replacement program is not applicable to South Africa, if you want to be informed about any updates regarding this issue please contact Xbox customer support on the following phone numbers

So Xbox.com is just lying then? According to the full terms and conditions applicable to this program we are covered. I think we are all used to be treated like second class citizens by the big corporate’s of this world but this is taking it one step to far.

The question now is how can Microsoft be forced to stand by their own statements?

I would seek legal advice. there may be a loophole somewhere that you have missed.

Yeah but legal advice is costly and Microsoft has a lot more cash than me 🙂

Luckily though their terms and conditions are very straight forward and short so they can’t hide anything. They can always change the terms at a moments notice but for now they are in breach…

Now I just need to find a lawyer who isn’t afraid to lose their entire career over a small issue like this. What are my chances?

yo, its so kuk that there is nothing we can do about it. the box is selling a m0erse hou, and just like it always is in any industry… the bigger the company, the more they dont give a fack about their customers and the more they give kuk service… look at telkom for fack’s sake. thats a perfect example for what i mean. i cant buy a 12 month xbox live subscription even though im using the same fake details that i was when i signed up for 360 live… its so poos… im getting gta4 tomorrow and im gonna miss out on the online slaughter 🙁
