Your PC needs to be this big to handle Total War: Rome II

Totar War: Rome II is coming, and it looks amazing and massive.  Because elephants!  But how much space will it take up?  Will Total War mean total upgrade?

Here are the specs:

Minimum:

  • OS: XP/ Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8
  • Processor:2 GHz Intel Dual Core processor / 2.6 GHz Intel Single Core processor
  • Memory: 2GB RAM
  • Graphics:512 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible card (shader model 3, vertex texture fetch support).
  • DirectX®:9.0c
  • Hard Drive: 35 GB HD space
  • Screen Resolution: 1024×768

Recommended:

  • OS: Windows 7 / Windows 8
  • Processor:2nd Generation Intel Core i5 processor (or greater)
  • Memory: 4GB RAM
  • Graphics:1024 MB DirectX 11 compatible graphics card.
  • DirectX®:11
  • Hard Drive:35 GB HD space
  • Screen Resolution: 1920×1080

As a lowly, hipster Mac user, I hear that this is quite doable as far as specs go.  However, be aware of the 35GB hard drive space – might mean you need to clear out some games gathering ‘dust’ on your ‘desktop’.

Luckily I cleaned out my ‘Super Special Hidden EX plus Alpha Nothing of Interest’ folder that I keep somewhere in my System32 directory

That’s some very scaleable graphics requirements. The minimum requirements should be easy to achieve.

I am a Total War fanboy.. yep I said it. I own everything from Medieval Total War … Rome + expansions, Medieval Total war 2, Emperors, Shogun 2 + the expansions.

I looked at the E3 gameplay vids, I jizzed and I will have to do an upgrade(got a 5750 ati), only on the graphics card department, lucky for me I started to save when I saw the first video.

I think I will have to go big just for the witcher 3 upgrade too

Hitman Absolution was 25g through steam. WoW’s 22g. Hell, my steam directory alone is between 60-80g depending on if I have all my steam games installed at one time, or just the heavy hitters. Games get bigger as time moves on, I thought this was a well-known fact at this point. And since HDD space is a dime a dozen at this point, who cares? Have 3 TB in my system and that’s quite literally, nothing.
