Oh boy, now that Australia has opened the door to those evil 18+ games they’re in for a flood of violence, sex and murder simulators. What has this world come to?

Okay, now that I’ve mocked society enough to feel a little bit satisfied I’ll tell you what’s really going on. After a “flood of emails” to Valve about getting an unedited version of Left 4 Dead 2 released in Australia, Valve has responded saying that the matter is being investigated and that they don’t really care how much it’ll cost them, it’s something they want to do!

“No need to flood us with emails. We have been exploring the options here and what we can legally do. We will have more information on this when we understand the issues fully and how we are moving forward but don’t worry any cost associated with it doesn’t worry us, this is something we want to do,” said Valve’s Chet Faliszek, on the Steam forums.

It’s great to see the lengths Valve will go to, to bring games to us no matter the complications. Left 4 Dead 2 was actually banned by the Australian Classification Board in September 2009, after which Valve then re-submitted two versions of the game, the original and a modified version. The modified version was then released in Australia without decapitation and limb dismemberment…and fun.
