Max Payne 3’s been delayed….again

Rockstar’s just announced that Max Payne 3 has been delayed again – this time until May. Two of the company’s previous hits, L.A Noire and Red Dead Redemption were released in a similar window.

The game’s been delayed to “ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality”, and it’s certainly not the first time. The game was expected to ship at the beginning, but was delayed until late 2010 – before getting delayed yet again for a release last year.

That didn’t happen either. Max Payne 3 was supposed to release in March this year..but it’s been pushed back. Again.

“We do not take changes to our release schedule lightly, and this short delay will ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality, groundbreaking entertainment experience that is expected from our Company,” said Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two.

I’ve just never been convinced that Rockstar Vancouver – responsible for Bully – was the right studio to take on Remedy’s gritty, Noir shooter, but perhaps I’ll be proven wrong when the game (possibly) sees release towards the middle of the year – though the delays certainly don’t inspire confidence.
