Pro Evolution Soccer has been in a bit of slump, failing to compete with FIFA’s endless budget. Konami seems to have realised that Pro Evo was on a downward spiral and is doing all it can to ensure that the next game in the beleaguered football sim will be better. The game, says Konami, is “ready for a comeback”

Speaking to MCV Konami European executive Shinji Hirano has revealed that the game isn’t going to be quite so Japanese in the future, and that Konami is co-developing it with a a UK-based studio, to appeal to Europeans a little more.

“I cannot give details on exactly what we are doing with the UK studio, but they are working on the next project and looking at the needs of the European people. It’s about globalising the franchise, so it is not just being developed by Japanese people.

“We know what’s been going wrong with PES, we are working on that. The next version is totally changed. 2014 is a transitional year for the franchise, so expect big things.”

No word on exactly which UK studio that might be. Pro Evo Soccer 15 hasn’t even been officially announced yet so we have no idea when its coming, but we do know that it’s coming to the PlayStation 4 at some point in the future. There’s no word on an Xbox One release.

Even with some new developers on board, I really don;t think Konami can compete with EA when it comes to technology and that important licensing.

We’ve been here so many times with PES. Every year they use buzz words and positive reinforcement in their blurbs! Every year its, “PES is better than ever!” or “PES is a FIFA killer!” Then they release this glitch filled, unfinished piece of trash! PES could be SO good if they just took the time to do something different. Ok, so FIFA have the licences yeah? Ok, that’s fine! Then DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT! Create the pro game as best you can but how about add some other modes like; Amateur football (Sunday league), five a side, seven a side…etc…make it realistic (i.e. not like FIFA Street) but try something different…innovative!!
