Winter leg

Ah, the seasons – they are a’changing. I’m wearing slippers again, so it must be winter. Which means, it’s time to register for the DGL Winter Leg. That’s right, you can still nab a spot at the championships, and all those awesome prizes.

Let’s start with a look at the Championships Titles.

  • Battlefield 4 can be played on PC in either 8v8 Conquest mode or 5v5 Domination League. Prizes are sponsored by MSI, with over R150k in hardware coming to the winner of the BF4 DGC. Register here.
  • Dota 2 (on PC, of course) has two sponsors: ASUS is giving away R110k in hardware while SteelSeries is giving away R50k in cash and hardware. Go embrace your inner Dendi and register for the MOBA here.
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts is open to both PC (5v5) and console (4v4) teams. Get your first person pew pew on in an awesome quest for domination by registering here.
  • League of Legends (also obviously on PC) is sponsored by Razer, with R40k in hardware up for grabs. Get involved in the world’s most popular MOBA by registering your team.
  • Gran Turismo 6 has been bumped up into the Champsionship. Played on PS3, it has Ster-Kinekor as a spinor, giving away R50k in cash and hardware. You know you want to register to vroom vroom.
  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, played on PC, has also moved from league to championship for the 2014 season. Also sponsored by Razer, winners could walk away with R40k in hardware prizes. Go start the offensive.

Those aren’t all the games, though. There are also tournament and league titles. Remember, enough support for these will help them move into the Championships in future legs, so show them some love and register through the links.

Hearthstone isn’t in the Championships yet? That’s surprising. I’m sure in a year or so, once everyone and their dog has it on tablet, it will be one of the biggest eSports titles. Although, it’s hard to say – Dota 2 seems to just carry on breaking every single record possible. Are you ready to get involved? I know a few people who tried out DGL for the first time in the past year or so – it’s really fun. You get to find out just how good you are, and learn some cool tricks along the way. Who knows, your hidden talent might just earn you some prizes.

Would love to play Hearthstone in the DGL but way to many credit cards have to be swiped to get a competitive deck(s) 😛
Really considering to try out Trackmania in the winter leg, love that game to bits!

Yup, would love to play Hearthstone in the DGL, but it seems like an endless quest to get competitive decks without playing the most feared card: the CREDIT card. The credit card instantly buffs all decks depending on the depth of the mana pool and can be played more than once each turn. Very dangerous card for the user as it can even result in defeat outside the world of Hearthstone. Warlock players are more familiar with the “life tap” effect of this card.

Why isn’t Dead Or Alive included as well and not just 2 different side fighting genre’s. DOA might be over sexualized, but it’s still a brilliant and great fighting game at it’s core.
