With the midyear movie blockbuster season behind us, and the glut of awards-bait movies yet to really hit, let’s turn our attention to the small screen today…

As many television series kick off their new season at the moment (or have just ended their most recent run), what are you watching at the moment? What will you miss? And what new shows are you looking forward to most?

I’m looking forward to continuing Person of Interest and er… Vampire Diaries :/

The Blacklist is pretty cool, but that’s more down to James Spader being creepy & snarky. I’d watch him do that in a cooking show.

James Spader is in The Blacklist? I’ve had the pilot on ice for a while! Must go watch it…

It looks like something that could develop nicely. And if it doesn’t, well, it’s still got James Spader 😉

Oh Gods. Vampire Diaries? I could not get myself into season last. Elena was such a damn annoyance as a vampire. Damon is the most useless vampire ever: “I am gonna get all ragey on their ass. I am going to murder them all and oh wait no. Daisy Duck got me in a death grip. Fuck me…”

Don’t you dare talk that way about my man-crush! Damon is the bestest.

I was so happy when her brother died. Finally half of Team WHYAREYOUSODAMNSTUPID was out the picture. But then his partner in brain cell starvation brought him back. Bah!

I would be happy if Team Buffy could take it upon themselves and end the Pissy Falls vampire problem once and for all.
Hells, not even Xander Harris was as useless as some of the supernatural people in VD…

So far it’s mostly been crap. Of the new network pilots Sleepy Hollow has the most hope (but is still iffy). the Michael J. Fox and Robin Williams comedies both stink. Even sci-fi is flat: Defiance took all of two episodes to become drab. Hannibal was equally dull and I’ve heard few good things about Under The Dome. Hostages did nothing for me.

Banshee might return soon and the new Hell On Wheels could be good – season 2 certainly upped the game. I’m also hoping for a new season of Orange Is The New Black, but that may only appear next year. As yet I still have to see Low Winter Sun, or Magic City, but they sound promising. Ray Donovan’s season will conclude soon, so I’ll at least get to marathon that. Same for Boardwalk Empire S4. And American Horror Story Coven starts next week! Wooh!

Low Winter Sun reminds me a bit of The Shield, but not as good. Just seemed to move a bit too slowly for my taste. Only watched the pilot though, so will give it a chance.

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. Slow doesn’t bother me – something like The Fall took its sweet time, but built up to a really good experience.

I’ve only watched the pilot for that too, it did seem good though. I tend to watch pilots to see if it’s something that I may enjoy, then will watch the whole season/series later once there’s more to watch. Nothing worse than having to wait until next week. Finally Breaking Bad for me!

I’m rather excited for Banshee as well. That is one graphic series! For my lazy no brainer fun, I’m watching Strike Back S4 now.

Someone else who liked Banshee! Yes, it was very graphic – I quite liked its mix of soap-opera storyline with hardcore violence. Also, that fight between the sheriff and MMA fighter was brilliant.

Hahaha…that was brilliant! Also…that prison flashback episode! Good grief!

And you are not alone…you’ll be glad to hear that my mom loved it as well.

And seriously…sex, Amish and violence…what more do you want in a show?

Banshee is superb. Hands down the best fight scenes on TV. That whole day fight scene in the Hood’s place between his ex-squeeze and that guy sent to kill her was just amazing.

I was thinking of that scene earlier as well. That was so damn rough! And that is what I keep telling my friends. You have to at least watch it at least for the fighting. Where most shows will have some sort of structured fighting in, this guy just brings prison style…which is to do any damn thing to win.
