Guitar Hero III release date announced

This is going to be such an easy review. It goes something like this. If you have never played Guitar Hero before, what is wrong with you?! If you were contemplating getting this game, but not quite sure if the price tag of the bundle is a bit too expensive and could eat away at the bank account, think no longer, buy it!!! This game is amazing, and the new controller, a Gibson copy, is fantastic. If you treasure your social life and don’t have all that much time to play games, DO NOT BUY THIS, your life will belong to Guitar Hero, and you’re going to end up playing this game over and over again.

Guitar Hero II did not sell as well in this country as expected, and I have no idea why. It was fantastic, and I told everyone I knew to get this game, no matter who they were. But this time around, I will push it harder and harder, and make sure that my screams are heard across the country.

I did a small experiment over the weekend. I put my copy in my friend’s XBOX360 with both guitars plugged in, and had about 10 people around watching while I started playing. Now all my friends are casual gamers, playing a few titles here and there, and my mate’s wife hates gaming totally. After 3 hours of play, the only reason the game was turned off, was because my friend’s toddler had to go sleep. Had this not been the case, we would have carried on until the early hours of the morning. Everyone loved it, including my friend’s wife, who played like a rock star. Soon the bets were flying and challenges were on the go, with the proverbial best out of 3, no wait, best out of 5 etc was in full swing. This game just grabs you the moment you play it for the first time, and keeps you entertained from start to finish, and then the downloadable content starts and the next thing you become really good and involved, trying to get to a higher level of difficulty every time, trying to finally reach that finger splitting expert mode(Small note here: Invest in Ice Bricks, Fingers get bruised)

There’s no story, no depth, just sheer fun with a line up of songs that I enjoy personally, and with a lot of other tracks to download , albeit rather pricey. This is not a dance mat kind of game, or one of those bad eye toy games that came out for PS2, it’s really good. The problem is that most “Hardcore” (Still trying to figure out what that means) gamers would not buy this. It’s has no in depth character development, no twist that blows your mind, no new technologically advanced graphics engine, and by no means is this even considered gaming at its core. But, the fun than one can have with this title is unbelievable.

If you are into serious fun, get this, it’s not a fad or a phase that gaming is going through, it has serious replay value, and brings out the inner rock star in you. Don’t argue, don’t think, just buy it.

I’m not even going to give this game individual scores, just an overall score. And here it is.

Thanks to Megarom Interactive for providing us with the game and controller, we really appreciate it.

Score:

OVERALL: 95% (If you don’t buy this, I’ll be very disappointed)

I am ashamed to say I played this game for the first time with Philip the other day. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am so getting this when it comes out. It’s great that there’ll be DLC available as well…Wireless controller, hell yeah!

You have to have both… GH3 is full of awesome.. missing it for rockband is like missing Gears for COD4… just don’t do it….

I have to admit, as an avid Guitar Hero player, GH3 is amazing but I haven’t been impressed with the new wireless guitar.

Since I’ve had my 360 I’ve had wireless controllers; it’s an absolute essential on next-gen systems but with the new guitar they’ve made some changes to the fret buttons which, if your rocked your way to stardom with the wired guitar, are difficult to get used to.

Firstly the fret buttons are slightly smaller and closer together, which might be better for someone with smaller hands, but leaves a bitter experience for an experienced player or someone with larger hands.

Secondly, where the head of the guitar was turned away from the frets on the old guitar, the new model’s heads blocks your thumb when sliding down the neck.

Now I’m not complaining, I’m just not impressed and the experience has left me second guessing buying the new guitar (I already bought the game on its own long ago) and sticking with the one from Guitar Hero 2.

i thought i’d buy it for my gf so that she can play xbox as well, but know i have to “play” her for it. its well worth the price, and i will be getting the aerosmith version very soon, even if i am still on easy and everyone else is on medium
