Microsoft Concedes Console War to Wii

I’m not really one for all this console war stuff, I don’t see why it really matters if one console sells more than the other but it seems Microsoft do care as they have conceded defeat to the Wii. They do firmly believe that they will be beating Sony this generation though.

Microsoft VP, Don Mattick said, “I’m not at a point where I can say we’re going to beat Nintendo.” he went on further to state that “We will sell more consoles this generation than Sony.”

While Microsoft do have a lead over Sony, writing them off would be short sited. I can see Little Big Planet having a say in the ps3 sales.

I have a question, in the end will it really matter? Will it change my life drastically because I own one or the other? No, the only thing it will do is give fanboys something else to brag about and lets be honest, that’s getting very old now anyway.

This is how the the worldwide figures stack up against each other as of March this year:

1. Wii – 24.45 Million Units

2. Xbox 360- 19 Million Units

3. Playstation 3 – 12.85 Million Units

What exactly makes that a fact?
I highly doubt that Sony will be able to catch Nintendo.

Abe, have you done some math to check the rate at which sony need to sell PS3’s to catch the Wii in 5 years?
If the PS3 is at 15 mill and wii at 25 mill, the PS3 will have to outsell the Wii by 166 666 units per month for the next 5 years. Is it still a fact? 🙄

I think his assertion isn’t impossible… but fact? Hardly.

i don’t think the notion of the 360 or PS3 should be considered absurd. I feel that the two powerhouse consoles will have a longer life and that there’s a chance that the Nintendo will move first to the next gen of consoles. (yeah i know, slim chance, but it’s possible)
