I have always been a big fan of trading console games, especially to try those titles that really didn’t look very good but I am interested in take a look anyway.
However trading over forums and through other websites is always risky, the vast majority of people are perfectly honest but there is always the risk of being scammed. Then you have the other option of trading in games at retail stores but you rarely get the proper value for the game and it can often be more of a mission than it’s worth.
So I don’t know what took so long but someone has finally taken the initiative and created an online trading marketplace with a difference. Instead of trading with other people through the website you trade with the website itself.
The way it works is that you head on over to www.tgx.co.za and register an account. Then using the search option on the right you either search for a title that you want to send them or a title that you want back.
You will invariably find the game and then you will see that it has been classified into 5 different categories. Category 1’s are brand spanking new titles (Burnout: Paradise City) and then are obviously worth the most as well. Category 5 is the bottom of the pile and normally contains the older PlayStation2 titles and some cult classics.
Oh yeah did I forget to mention that TGX trades games on Xbox 360, Wii, PS2 and PS3 which is especially helpful when you are trying to trade in a pile of PS2 games for a new PS3 game.
There is a price difference between what they will give you for a trade in adverse to the selling cost of the same game but it is minimal (+-R40) and it does include shipping which then makes it a bargain as you have to remember you are also paying for TGX to validate that the games are in good condition and legal.
Another nice benefit is even if you don’t see a game that you want right away you can send them your old games and they will credit your account with the points to use at a later date. So if you have finished a new game and won’t be playing it again then send it in and wait for something awesome to pop up on the site.
If you are working in a corporation you don’t even need to leave the building to do all your trading, just pop your games in the company mail (mark it as business) and away you go 🙂
I personally think this site is a great idea and it is laid out very well indeed, Go give it a try and I highly doubt you are going to be disappointed.

ever heard of TRADESTATION it beats the online gaming stores regarding prices , and its a fast growing company there will be alot more stores opening up and realy is the best value for money , considering when your dealing with secondhand games. I wont mention other companys but they can not compare with tradestaion

Well from what I know there are 3 trading stores: The Gamers exchange (http://www.tgx.co.za/), Tradestation Games (http://www.tradestation.co.za/articles.htm), and GameXchange (http://www.gamexchange.co.za/) and then there’s AWX (http://www.awx.co.za) who also do a trade in system but they’re a retail store first.
from the first 3 websites I must say that The Gamers Exchange Looks to be the more professional of the 3 with it’s presentation of it’s site, I for one think that’s very important, to me it shows that people who take pride in what their business looks like will do a better job of taking care of you.
But then I’m a gamer who’s used none of the above services so I’m speaking without practice. but if I ever did I’d give The Gamers Exchange a try first. IMO

Did Tradestation in Durbs close down? They never answer their phone and don’t advertise anymore??? I prefer BT Games. They give hard cash for our used games 😀

i would choose tradesation over the rest, how their trade system works is better u just get more value for your money
ps. bt games doesnt give u cold hard cash for your games they give you credit , so u bring in a game that cost R5oo they give R200 credit , then u want to buy a game that costs R600, that means that you paid R500 for your game they give you R200 {credit} so now you can buy the game for R400 that means you spent a total of R900 for one game think about it thats crazy

BT Games are unblievable rip offs when it comes to PS3 games, they offer you next to nothing.
Anyone looking to trade ps3 games go to the market place on the PS3za.co.za forum. By far the best deal you will find!

@francois- They did give me hard cash when I took a game for a trade-in.
@Abe- they also offer lousy trade-ins for Xbox360 games. I prefer keeping the games instead.

You could just keep the games you buy so that’s R1200 for two games, instead of R900 for two games.

I was wondering if gamers prefer to walk into stores and get immediate satisfaction by trading or is the 3 day wait from gamer’s exchange part of the anticipation and excitement……thoughts please

Some are great but I prefer shopping from home…. If I needed a game NOW then I would go to the shop, but especially with trading I am rarely in a rush so over the net is perfect

Ever hear of xdvd and games in Stadium on Main? I used to work there. Also a trade store. PS2 and Xbox trades are R30, Ds, PS3 and Wii are R50 and Xbox 360 varies from 50 to 100. Only problem is that there aren’t always brand new games.

The other thing I’ve noted with that shop in Stadium on Main is that their games are often in atrocious condition – damaged boxes and manuals, scratched discs.
