Outriders will have an extended broadcast this week to show off its RPG-shooter mechanics
People Can Fly’s latest venture into the shooter realm looks more restrained than Bulletstorm but still has plenty of big guns and even bigger explosions.

People Can Fly’s next game finally gives the most primal element a chance to shine in Outriders with a class-type dedicated towards setting all the things on fire. Called the Pyromancer, this class sets itself apart from the Devastator and Trickster by not only unleashing blisteringly hot flames but can also manipulate that element to set up barriers and traps.
It may have all the trappings of a looter-shooter, but People Can Fly's new game Outriders is bucking the live service trend and attempting to deliver as complete a game as possible on launch day.
There’s a new generation of video games on the way, and one of the first such titles looking to bring the idea of enemy heads erupting in a geyser of maths all so that you can score some sweet loot, is Outriders. Developer People Can Fly, they of the dick-killing fame behind the criminally underrated Bulletstorm, are dipping their toes into loot ‘n shoot territory on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, and so far the game looks kind of neat.
People Can Fly is the Polish studio behind Painkiller (remember that? Impaling baddies with stakes was a blast!) and the sweary, skilly-killy Bulletstorm. At last year’s E3 they teased their new game Outriders, but now they’ve shown off more of the game through a more extended trailer.
Eight years is a hell of a stretch for any game to still be so fondly remembered, and while Bulletstorm has lived on in remasters since then, it looks like a sequel is nowhere to be found. People Can Fly CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski reckons that the studio’s beloved IP might get a follow-up eventually though.
Oh Square Enix, you delightful tease. Over the last couple of days, the publisher has been hinting at something new being on the horizon. And by hinting, I mean that they’ve been posting cryptic messages which happen to be formatted as travel logs from one Captain Archan. So far, the messages have been painting a story of Earth being ravaged, one last hope surviving amongst the stars and a lethal militia that’s out to get ol’ Archan.
Developer People Can Fly’s shooter sold alright after launch, with a steady trickle of sales eventually culminating in a current-gen upgrade for the Xbox One and PS4. That version of Bulletstorm actually did better than expected, with the studio now having some ideas for a sequel that they can move on with…one day.
Playing certain games can actually be good for your brain, offering both fun and …
A spooky European village. Properly scary castle mania. Vampires. Werewolves! Capcom's successor to its long-running survival-horror franchise is finally out, and if you've read our review then you know the game is a winner on multiple levels.
