Not too long ago, we told you that cracking group 3DM had decided to give up on cracking games for a year – in an effort, they say, to test the real world effects on sales.
According to the group, they were going to go on a year-long hiatus.
“Starting at the Chinese New Year [February 8], 3DM will not crack any single-player games. We’ll take a look at the situation in a year’s time to see if genuine sales have grown. Cracks by overseas warez groups will still get posted on the [3DM] forum, and we will actively deal with these.”
That led many to believe that the group had given up, and that cracking Denuvo was just too hard a task for them. That’s apparently just the sort of impetus the group needed – because they’ve just suggested they’ve managed to bypass the anti-tampering software (via Torrentfreak).
“3DM will soon announce that we have a solution to the latest Denuvo encryption used on games including ‘FIFA 16’, ‘Just Cause 3’, and ‘Tomb Raider: The Rise. We made this announcement because a lot of players believe we have abandoned cracking due to technical problems, but we will prove it is not the case. We have not yet been stumped”.
Denuvo’s become a favoured bit of DRM Anti-tampering software for publishers of later, thanks to it being notoriously hard to bypass. We’ll wait to see if 3DM has managed to make Denuvo redundant – or if it’ll just spur on the sort of cat and mouse games we’ve seen in the past.

Well, if they do abstain from cracking any games for a year and this results in increased game sales(doubtful) the data could shake up the gaming industry & their stance towards DRM either way! ????

I’m rather surprise this didn’t happen sooner. There’s always a way.

Seems the people starting poking the bear that was getting ready to hibernate and now it is wide awake and pissed off.
For most of these DRM crackers it seems to be an ego thing; sort of sticking it to the man. Telling they can not do it was probably very motivating.
Except if you shipping with highly encrypted hardware matched keys there will always be a way.

There reason for cracking games is that they want a challenge

How to pirate a game:
Step 1: Download Steam
Step 2: Buy game off steam
Step 3: Finish game in less than 2 hours and steam refund (easy enough for games like CoD) 😛
Step 4: Return to step 2.

Try that with MGS V. Only the intro is 1 hour… Or find a game breaking bug in the middle of Ryse Son of Rome. And you wonder why I pirate first. Or Mad Max – it can be fun for 30min-2hours but after that it is 10000% repetitive shit.

I will stop pirating when games stop costing 60 euro (euro, not dollars…) in Eastern Europe where we make 200-300euro/month….

I will be honest with you. I don’t HAVE $150 to spend on games every month, and I WANT to play them because that’s what I do. I play games. The best of them I end up purchasing on Steam at some stage, so that I can archive them as memories and support the devs. 3DM probably makes up for sales losses in promotion value.

I make 120k a year, and sometimes I pirate some games that carry a lot of hype to see how broken and glitchy they are, and buy them when they finally get fixed, MGSV? glitchy, GTAV? glitchy, Fallout4? glitchy, dont get me wrong I like these games a lot, but in their final form, not the clusterfuck they ship out on day one, GTAV for instance is just now great for next gen consoles, with lots of bug fixes, of course if you focus on online youll say “its been great since day one!” (day one the servers worked right), but I really dont like online mode that much, Im still a bit peeved its so few missions for a GTA game, and that things that were present in other games (like being a cop, fireman, selling cars, etc.) are missing or dumbed down (Also its called “Grand Theft Auto” not “Get a haircut and play the knockout game on random strangers” not saying thats bad, but more focus on the thieving part and indoor spaces would have been nice), but still this next gen version we’re playing now is way better than what came out first, fallout 4 when the G.E.C.K. comes out Ill buy on pc, and MGSV I bought after they fixed a bunch of mission glitches, I should have held out till they fixed mission 51, and actually made a finished product, but MGS is one of my favorite franchises, next to GTA, Fallout, (the now deceased) Silent Hill and Resident Evil.
