During their otherwise incredible debut press conference today, Bethesda hit a few pacing speed bumps along the way. The Elder Scrolls Online was a notable low point, followed by a rather surprising announcement of another new title in the ever expanding franchise, Elder Scrolls Legend. A new Hearthstone competitor coming to PC and iPad
Details were virtually non-existent on stage, but what we do know is this. The game will span most of the Elder Scrolls universe, which means elements from Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim will all feature somehow. The game itself will also be free, and hit both desktop and mobile platforms later this year (something that Hearthstone didn’t manage).
It seems that the game will also feature a similar Hero mechanics to Hearthstone – with different characters brining their own unique abilities to each battle. Aside from that, Bethesda didn’t really show much else – other than the fact that everyone and their mother wants to get some of the Blizzard gold.
And therein lies the problem already. Bethesda need a card game that either differentiates itself early or just does Hearthstone better than Blizzard does. It’s too early to say if that’s an insurmountable task, but it’s certainly not going to be easy.

Bethesda took all that good will build up with the other showings and took a large stinky runny dump on it.

Good luck to them but it’s pretty much impossible to do anything better than Blizzard does.
