Even though it lacks the superb feature of having mercenaries trying to kill you while shouting “SKIET DIE BLIKSEM”, Far Cry 3 looks to be a solid contender for game of the year. The review scores are in, and they’re just one explosive collection of mental praise and insane love. Here’s a look at what the critics have to say while staring down the barrel of a gun while under the influence of some jungle hallucinogens.

The usually fussy Eurogamer gave the game an unprecedented perfect score, saying that

“Far Cry 3 is all the best things about open-world gaming. It’s a glorious anecdote factory, where you manufacture brilliant new memories every time you wake up in a safehouse and head out into the jungle.”

Kotaku, while not using a numbering system for their reviews, called it a blast, praising the fact that

“running up a winding mountain ridge before hang-gliding off. It never gets old.”

They also labelled the game as

“an example of the rare ambitious, big-budget game that accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do—chaotic yet controlled, with a brilliantly-balanced mechanical ecosystem that challenges and empowers at every turn.”

Gametrailers gave the game the lowest score so far, even though that itself was an impressive 8.6, saying that

“the co-op and competitive multiplayer components stand as comparative low points, but chances are you’ll be so busy trekking through this vast island that you’ll likely write them off as just another symptom of jungle sickness.”

Looks like Far Cry 3 might be the jungle boogie game of the year. Expect our own review on it soon, when the game releases on multiple platforms on November 30.
