More People Leave Infinity Ward

Exit

It’s a new day! What does that mean? It means more people have left Infinity Ward, that’s what!

The latest casualties in the infinity Ward/Activision Debacle are lead animator Mark Grigsby and lead character animator Paul Messerly, who’ve now officially left the company.

Grigsby was at Infinity Ward for five years – even voicing one of the main characters in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Messerly was there for eight years, having moved with the studio from its roots at EA. This brings the headcount of ex-infinity Ward staff to 13.

Seems like most of the senior staff – the people really behind the games and the engines Infinity Ward is so well known for – have left, or will be leaving the company. Word is that the morale among remaining staff is understandably low, apparently due to a lack of leadership.

This, I’m afraid marks the end of Infinity Ward as we know it. It wouldn’t be far fetched for Activison to dissolve the company, absorbing whatever staff choose to remain. either that or the next Infinity Ward developed Call of duty will be made by the tea lady, the mailroom staff and the guy who replaces the water bottles at the cooler.

It’s amazing how history repeats itself, even in places you wouldn’t think.

Modern Warfare 2 was the first videogame superpower in terms of a modern and approachable IP (not like WoW for instance that has certain crowds).

Look what happened, we had the largest game release ever, most money made and then just like everything else, POOF.

This story has been reported far and wide but I seriously doubt anyone has a better header image 🙂

On the sad side I have to agree with Nick, I just can’t see Infinity Ward coming back from this.

lol , so right gavin , that image is the shit ….
well , this whole thing makes sense if you look at it like this ….
when an artist creates a piace of work but the galery makes all the commisson on the painting and gives the artist enough to buy a lil more paint and a canvas and still has the nerve to tell the artist what to paint next …. well thats just not cricket

Serves Activision Right  The first modern warfare they went out of their way to try and convince the developers that ppl didn’t want a Modern war game, the next Call of Duty and they couldn’t whore it out to the public more and having the cheek of raising the PC price and general feeling of a big fat middle finger to all PC gamers. I just can imagine the stress those developers must have undergone during the development. :ermm:
