Why don’t you have PlayStation Plus yet?

Sony’s released the list of games that’ll be available for PlayStation Plus subscribers to add to their “Instant Game Collections” next month, and it’s quite tasty. If you’re not a PS+ member, you really should be – the service pays for itself.

Here’s the list of games you’ll be able to download:

PlayStation Plus December content:

  • 5th December: Batman: Arkham City (PlayStation 3)
  • 5th December: LIMBO (PlayStation 3)
  • 5th December: Vanquish (PlayStation 3)
  • 12th December: Big Sky Infinity (PS Vita and PlayStation 3)
  • 19th December: Mortal Kombat (PS Vita)
  • 21st December: Knytt Underground (PS Vita and PlayStation 3)
  • Additional offers and savings TBC

The service has only just hit Sony’s ailing Vita, injecting a bit of life in to the platform, by offering up some of its best games for free. For November, subscribers in Euro territories could download Uncharted: golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Chronovolt and Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attacks – all of which are excellent.

Next month, the Vita gets the pretty excellent port of Netherrealm’s Mortal Kombat reboot, Big Sky Infinity and Knytt Underground; the latter two I’ve never actually heard of. Still, free games are free games, right?

In addition to that, a PlayStation Plus subscription makes it so you can download patches for your games automatically, grants access to cloud storage as well as a host of other special discounts and offers. For less than R500 for a year’s subscription, it really is damned good value for money, seeing as it’ll pay for itself after two or three free game downloads.

If you’re biting, you’d best jump soon – because the following titles will be removed from the service next month.

  • 5th December: Crysis 2 (PlayStation 3)
  • 5th December: Scott Pilgrim vs The World (PlayStation 3)
  • 5th December: Double Dragon Neon (PlayStation 3)
  • 19th December: Chronovolt (PS Vita)
  • 21st December: Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack (PS Vita)

While I’m still convinced, as far as console go, that Xbox Live offers the superior multiplayer gaming service, there’s no denying that PlayStation Plus offers the best value.
