We could talk for days about who the definitive Batman is, but if there’s ever a debate as to who the best voice of the Joker ever was…well it’s not even a debate is it? Mark Hamill’s wonderfully psychotic pipes will now and forever be the yardstick that all other attempts are measured against. There’s just something haunting about his ace of knaves, a megalomaniacal jester who comes off as a theatrical mass murderer.
The real question, is just which Joker look do you like best? Anarchy in the streets with Heath Ledger’s down and dirty clown? Classic capering with the slicked-back attitude of the animated series era Joker? Whatever the hell it was that Jared Leto was going for in Suicide Squad? Personally, I’ve always liked his Arkham Asyum appearance.
A gaunt, ragged Joker whose costume hides spurts of blood and acid, with a grin that stretches from ear to ear. It’s the best of many worlds, a design that works on multiple levels, from goofy to scary. And that particular incarnation is getting the sixth-scale treatment.
