Michael Bay. Giant Robots. Much like everything else good in life (Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry, Cheese and Onion chips, Smith and Wesson guns), this combination of slick directing and bombastic action were made for each other. Despite the previous three movies having dangerous amounts of Shia LaBeouf in them, I still adored the first Transformers trilogy.

And Age of Extinction is clearly setting up a brand new start for the robots in disguise. If they can survive the fourth film that is.The rules certainly have changed. For example, Mark Wahlberg’s lead character is actually leading the charge instead of idly standing by and running around shouting NNONONONONONONO the whole time. Visually, the film looks like a treat, something that you want to see when you’ve got Michael Bay behind the lens.

Ridiculous action, a new cast and Optimus Prime punching a dinosaur? There may be more than meets the eye with this movie, but this kind of content makes more than happy to see it already. Transformers: Age of Extinction is out June 27 and stars Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, and Kelsey Grammer.
