Gentlemen, by now there’s one thing that you should know that I love more than scotch and my dog Baxter, and that’s a new Anchorman movie. The old gang is headed back to continue the legend of Ron Burgundy and the Channel 4 news team, sex panther cologne and all.

So has Ron Burgundy mellowed out over the years and become a humbler human being, by the time that Anchorman 2 rolls around? Hells to the no says director Adam McKay! He’s still, and forever will be, an asshole.

“If he wasn’t a giant A-hole, everything would be okay,” McKay said to Empire, explaining how Ron attempting to get to grips with cable news networks and the 24-hour news cycles would result in him becoming even more egocentric. “By the end he’s got to be a little less of an A-hole, but that’s still a little hard for him to do.”

As for where the next adventure will take the Channel Four news team, they’ll be headed away from Whales Vagina and to the Mecca of news reporting, New York City according to McKay. “San Diego is too close to Ron’s heart to go away, but we feel that New York City is the holy grail for all newsmen.”

The whole team is there for whatever shenanigans Burgundy gets into, and that includes the mentally challenged Brick Tamland, in a role that Steve Carrell has made iconic. “Brick’s so far gone that you can’t have a relationship with him,” McKay explained, detailing that Kristen Wiig’s character would still be looking for love with a man that was infatuated with a lamp. “It takes a special someone to get a rope snare around his heart. She is dangerous!”

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, kicks off filming next week March 4, for a December release date.
