Before you start worrying that the popular actor is going to lure children into a rusty van, relax. Sandler is now on board for a film adaptation of Candy Land, a Hasbro board game that has shifted studios from Universal Studios to Columbia pictures.

Sandler will be co-writing a script, while his production company, Happy Madison will get the film made.

Director Kevin Lima (Enchanted) is a lock for film-helming duties, while Robert Smigel will be writing the script alongside Sandler, replacing screenwriters  Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, who told EW last year that their vision for the film was like “Lord of the Rings, but set in a world of candy.”

The news comes after Hasbro announced that their other licensed product adaptation, Stretch Armstrong, which would have starred the sentient six-pack of abs known as Taylor Lautner in the role of the bendy superhero, has also moved from Universal, towards Relativity Media.

No word yet on whether that project has a director, script, or lawsuit from the creators of the Fantastic Four, but Hasbro wants it finished in time for an April 2014 release.
