Alien Isolation is now even harder…or easier than ever before

Gonna getcha

Alien:Isolation is one of the better games in that iconic franchise, in many a year. It’s tense, challenging and somebody is going to end up finding out just how much acidic blood can burn. On its hardest setting, the game is brutally unforgiving, easily adapting to whatever tactics you come up with. Now, the game is going to take its penis monster idea, engorge itself and get even harder.

Developer Creative Assembly detailed the new Nightmare mode on their website, revealing that the new difficulty setting would only be for “players with extremely strong dispositions.”

Alien Isolation (2)

We’ve seen a number of players with extremely strong dispositions demand more challenges for their Alien: Isolation encounter – another try at survival against tougher odds. In response to your requests, we’ve created Nightmare Mode, a new difficulty level, which should challenge players to beat the ultimate Alien: Isolation experience.

Explore the world of Sevastopol with a motion tracker featuring a damaged display and undependable information. Resources will be even more limited, the map systems have gone offline and fellow survivors and synthetics are even more deadly and aggressive.

In this heightened, terrifying atmosphere, our Alien will be hunting you like never before. With an upgraded AI that has amplified its fatal hostility, every step you take may be your last. Our monster is more adaptive, learning from your tactics with chilling speed and with intensified senses that will give you no second chances…

Well crap. Let’s see a YouTube Let’s Play channel clock that mode. I dare them. If you’re not keen on being viciously assaulted, the game will be going in the opposite direction as well, with a brand new novice mode. There there, it’ll be ok. Everything is going to be just fine:

Alien Isolation (1)

Similarly, we have had requests from the community to have more time and breathing space with which to explore Sevastopol. Therefore, to balance the horror of Nightmare Mode, we also have Novice Mode. For those who may have already survived the terror first time around, take on the experience again with more of a potential reprieve…

You’ll be given more resources and ammunition, with synthetics and fellow survivors being less troublesome. Our Alien will also be more forgiving, more easily distracted and less aggressive in his hunting style.

Striking that balance between challenging and fun is never an easy task for any game. I’m an absolute coward who hates a fair fight, so I’m going for that novice mode. Both of the new modes are free to go, from today.

Other than that terrible floor clipping issue, the game actually looks incredibly fun

The first year of the next gen spelt disaster for the marketing departments at Ubisoft.
HIGH EXPECTATIONS = ANGRY ANGRY GAMERS.

Look at Shadow of Mordor, I believe it became a success because nobody heard of the game until 1 week before its release.

Now Im guessing that Naughty Dog are purposely lowering our expectations by showing off that it has the same issues as Unity.

It should work, If they do not over sell the game like they did at E3.

Agreed. Overselling is bad. Hype kills a game. End of story. Couldn’t agree more

That is why I’m only playing games that are out for a year or more, I don’t pay to beta test

Thing about shadow of mordor is that even it is a next generation game it is well optimised. I’m having it running on i5 2500 with gtx670 2gb medium textures and everything else maximised (no AA). ACU doesn’t run smooth even on r9 290x with 3570k at 4.2 ghz…….

Yeah man I’m struggling my ass off on hard! Only at level 5 now, it’s just so frustrating having to redo an entire section after you mess it up.

I’ve been playing some avp classic 2000 lately – even after all these years the game still holds up very well. Damn you facehuggers!
