So many, guns. Uh… You’re all going to… Die…

I gave up on Keanue Reeves after the Matrix but boy does he know how to make a return. Of course I am talking about the surprise hit John Wick.

I watched the movie the first time at home, not thinking it was going to be anything other than a B-grade action flick. You know, the sort Steven Seagal loves so much (don’t sue me bro!). Little did I know that the directors Chad Stahelski (who was a stuntman and also doubled as Brandon Lee’s replacement in The Crow) and David Leitch would create an absolute gem. So of course a sequel was on the cards. And by the look of the trailer we are in for another, gory, action-packed film!

Aubrey Page of Collider recently had the pleasure of interviewing Stahelski at the New York Comic Con and I am pleased to say the director has already got plans for a third installment, before the second has even been released! Please don’t jinx it! Stahelski said:

“The studio has asked us to put our heads together and see if we can come up with something. Winston’s [McShane] is a big part of the next one, so is Lance Reddick. We’ve got some ideas.”

I am ecstatic to hear that, and a little apprehensive to be honest. Let’s see how the second does first shall we chaps?! Perhaps Stahelski just knows something we don’t and judging by the action in the below trailer I am sure he does!

That looks INSANE! So what sort of timeline are we looking at? Does this take place before, like so many other stories out there? Thankfully not:

“When it came to coming up with a story idea, we had like ten bad ideas, and they we were like, ‘fuck it,’ what would have just happened the next day. Once we stopped worrying about ourselves, it was fun. Is it as good as the first one? I don’t know, that’s personal opinion. Did we go better in some ways? Yes. Did we explore the character more? Yes. It’s better, I think, technically. Is the enjoyment better? Yes, it’s there, but it’s completely different.”

Of course exploring Wick’s character ‘more in depth’ isn’t much of a mission when his sole motivation to destroy ALL the people is ‘they killed my daaag’. “You wot mate?” “Dag, me dag!” Ahem, sorry about that.

Joining Reeves will also be Ruby Rose of Orange is the New Black only this time she won’t have much to say. Like, at all:

“I don’t know if she was expecting Wick to be as kooky as it really is, but she’s mute in the movie, she does the whole thing in sign language. She was nervous for the first couple days, and then she just went for it.”

Should be interesting! I also love that Reeves’ old Matrix partner Laurence Fishburne is in this as another hitman. I want to see him kicking ass and taking names while convincing us of our own reality.

Also appearing in John Wick: Chapter 2 is  Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, Bridget Moynahan and Peter Stormare.

Expect Reeves to go postal on 10 February, 2017. Which is too damn far away!
