And the new TERMINATOR movie is called….

If you’ve ever wondered exactly why the Rise of the Machines actually happened, I think we finally have our answer: The computers have had enough of spell-checking our dumbass words. Words like the new mangled title of the upcoming Terminator reboot/sequel. The titular man himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger took to social media last night to announce that production had officially wrapped on the Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones) directed flick, and in the process revealed that the 5th film in the franchise will now be called Terminator Genisys, instead of the previous working title (that used real, actual English words) of Terminator: Genesis.

“Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of Terminator Genisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup – we couldn’t have done it without you. I can’t wait to see our finished project and I know we’ll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I’ll be back.”

Why the change? That’s not clear (maybe the guy who came up with the name for SyFy just came out of retirement?), but it may have some meaning in the film’s story itself. You’ll notice in the above pic that besides for the film title just being emblazoned on Arnie’s chair, the word “Genisys” is also displayed on the computer screens in front of him, perhaps hinting that this is actually the name of some computer program or system that will be seen in the film. Whatever the reason, you just know it’s about to give your phone’s autocorrect some hell.

Along with the actual title, Schwarzenegger also revealed the film’s new official Twitter and Instagram accounts, where we can get a much clearer look at the film’s title treatment.

Along with Arnie reprising arguably his most famous role, Terminator Genisys will also see Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke and Jai Courtner, play new respective versions of the classic characters Sarah Connor, John Connor and Kyle Reese. The will also be joined by J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung-hun Lee, Michael Gladis, Sandrine Holt and Matt Smith. The film, which is rumoured to be telling a story in which various scenes from the original is revisited and changed to create a new timeline, is scheduled for release on July 1, 2015.

  1. Obviously, Genisys is short for “(GEN)ocidal (I)nternational (SYS)tem”

Too clever for this early in the morning but how do you get better than Cyberdyne and Skynet?

I’m already pissed at this movie and I’ve been a huge fanboy of the first two films. BTW Conan in Conan the Barbarian was Arnie’s best role ever.

Conan is the movie that made him a star, but I think Terminator is his most well known/loved.
