Arnie

I’m pretty keen on the next Arnie film, Terminator: Genesis. Despite Kervyn fervently insisting that this movie will be about a robotic Phil Collins hunting down the Connor family, the actual film will deal with the entire legacy of the franchise, and will bring back Arnie as the iconic hunter. The thing is, Arnie happens to have gotten a tad older in the last three decades since the first movie came out. Not even a truck of CGI can fix that fact. But there’s a good reason why his terminator will look like it’s ready for an early bird murder buffet.

“‘Terminator’ deals a lot with time travel,” the former Governator said to MTV.

So there will be a younger T-800, and then [there is] what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie.

The biggest hurdle however? The fact that Schwarzenegger has aged, much like any other fleshy meatbag of a human. But there’s actually a proper solution for that problem, which ties all the way back to the original film and makes sense:

The way that the character is written, it’s a machine underneath. It’s this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator’s flesh ages, just like any other human being’s flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages.

As far as solutions go, that’s a pretty clear and cut one. Remember, only living organisms could travel back in time, which led to the development of synthetic skin that behaved just like human flesh, which was used to coat the Terminator robots. And by the sounds of things, Arnie’s T-800 has been walking around for a long time in our particular timeline. And I’d dig to see a younger version of Arnie wreak havoc again, one of the few things that Terminator: Salvation got right:

The first film in a brand-new trilogy, Genesis will also star Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and J.K. Simmons. Alan “Thor: The Dark World” Taylor directs.
