Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back for Terminator 6

So James Cameron is going to be attempting to resurrect the Terminator franchise and give us all hope again that the battle between mankind and Skynet is worth watching once again. Now serving as a producer as he happens to be too busy casting Stephen Lang as a villain in four consecutive Avatar sequels, Cameron has handed over directing duties to Deadpool’s Tim Miller. Having the visionary creator of the franchise back in charge certainly gives us hope that he can return the franchise back to the glorious highs of those first two movies.

However, as important as Cameron is to The Terminator story, it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Arnold Schwarzenegger as the T-800 fighting both for and against the human race. Which is why Cameron has decided that there is no point in changing a winning recipe and has announced that the hulking actor will return to play the human likeness of the T-800 for the next film as well, which he revealed during a recent Q&A with The Arnold Fans site:

Yeah, you got to ask yourself, ‘Why did they make these characters look and sound like Arnold? There has to be a reason. So yeah, it has flashed through my mind that there has to have been a prototype.

There has to have been a guy whose DNA was harvested from – that they grew the organic outer layer that they grew the Terminator from…and that presumably was a real person at some point.

Now, the question is, did that person have some sort of meaning to Skynet on WHY they chose that one (Arnold)? Or was it like a whole rack of Terminators and the one that happened to be the Arnold model just happened to be closest to the door going out to the time displacement centre and all the others looked different?

I’ve asked myself these questions but it’s never been resolved…so stay tuned!

As disappointing as some of the Terminator sequels may have been, Arnold Schwarzenegger has remained one of the best parts of the films each time he has played the character and it is certainly is great for story continuity to keep him in the role. As hinted at above though we could certainly be getting more than one Arnold in action at a time and what’s better than the Terminator versus the Terminator?

We don’t know too much else yet about the next Terminator film that is scheduled to start filming next year, but I’m hoping Cameron finds a way of writing the rest of the stories out of existence so that we can continue right where Terminator 2 left off. Because my brain can’t handle any more time travel plot changes.

The last couple of Terminator movies destroyed the timeline of the franchise completely…. What the hell are they planning to do in the 6th movie?! Ill just stick to the original 3 movies… Even though I will most probably go watch the 6th one anyways, way to big of a Terminator fan not to, haha

I liked the last one but it should have ended with Arnie dying, good endings are for losers.

How many times do you want him to die?

James Cameron is the massive divider here, he only makes quality and he can do it on a shoe string budget. I’m sure he still has a few cinematic surprises in store for die-hard Terminator fans like myself.

Only the T800 Model 101 looks like Arnold. How has James Cameron himself forgotten that? Arnold doesn’t play *the* T800, he plays *a* T800. They’re infiltration units intended to blend in with humans, if they all looked the same it would defeat the point.
