The ASSASSIN’S CREED trailer is finally here!

Video game feature film adaptations are terrible. Like, really terrible. This is a universally known fact, right? Well, it would seem that somebody forgot to tell Michael Fassbender and Justin Kurzel as the actor and director – who have just come from the ferociously awesome Macbeth – have gone and done the silly thing of actually making a video game movie that looks good. Damn good, in fact! How very contrarian of them!

The movie in question is Assassin’s Creed, based on Ubisoft’s massively successful long-running franchise that sees assassins in the future living out the memories of their ancestors as they battle their eternal enemies, the Templar, throughout time to prevent them from subverting humanity’s independence. Fassbender stars as both one of these assassins and his 15th century Spanish ancestor, and after after months of teasing and hinting we can finally see him in action, running, jumping and stabbing his way through Spain, as the first trailer has finally released!

So don’t let me hold you back any longer. Have a watch below!

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

As the Assassins’ motto says: Everything is permitted, nothing is forbidden… including a Kanye West song on the trailer for a movie set mostly in the Spanish Inquisition. Didn’t expect that, did ya?! To be fair though, Ubisoft have always used contemporary music for the soundtracks to the game trailers, so this is no different. And either way, who cares when the movie itself looks that bloody good! Damn, I’m pumped now!

Assassin’s Creed also stars Marion Cottilard and Jeremy Irons (already giving this more Oscar-winning actors than most productions, video game adaptation or not), as well as Michael K. Williams and Brendon Gleeson. It was scripted by the duo of Adam Cooper and Bill Collage (Exodus: Gods and Kings, Tower Heist), while Fassbender also produces. It is scheduled for release on December 21. 2016.

The animus concept changed…. and the music sure as hell does not work…

Consider me intrigued, but if this movie is a let down – Ubisoft will have some cleaning up to do

What the hell did I just watch? If i remember correctly the animus is a bed you lay on while your brain gets scanned as you sleep. Not a robot hand holding you in the air.

Well that wasn’t terrible (except for Kakye). I think I prefer the game’s version of the animus but hey, creative licence and all that.

They should have used the same soundtrack from the Assassins creed Revelations trailer.

This won’t be the full movie though, extra DLC and pre-order incentives will only release a couple of months after the movie’s release…

This is worse than the culmination of all of the worst events one person could endure during the span of their entire lives…WHO AND WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT STUPID MUSIC!? I’d love to know who decided that that song fitted with this trailer, because clearly that person must be deaf.

I like the trailer but the song part does not fit! Not at all. They could have just cut out the voice and just use the backtrack, then it would have been awesome!
