Be a Force for change in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

Aah, extras, not just the name of a snappy end of day news round-up and a great source of fuel for the dark magic that powers this website, but also a critical piece of the filmmaking process. Star Wars Episode one through six made frequent use of disposable background actors, and it looks like Episode VII is going to keep that tradition alive.

With filming having kicked off in Abu Dhabi, director J.J Abrams has made a video to give fans a chance to fly on in to London and have a chance to cameo on the movie. It’s all part of a charity effort called  “Force for change”, so you can even feel good about yourself. To enter, you just have to make a donation to the UNICEF Innovation Labs fund, as the video explains below while giving a sneak peek at the current Star Wars set:

Not a bad idea. I normally attempt to buy my way into a film with threats of physical violence, but thus sounds better. More details can be found on Omaze. Star Wars: Episode VII is out next year December.
