Bill and Ted are heading for a Galaxy Quest. Excellent!

It’s been 21 years since dim-witted wannabe rockers Bill S. Preston, Esquire and “Ted” Theodore Logan had their epic adventures in space and time, creating an utopian future society through their music, meeting a myriad of famous historical figures, giving Death a “melvin”, defeating their robotic doppelgangers and learning to shred guitar like nobody’s ever done before.

We’ve been hearing talk from stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winters for ages now about a third film, and not too long ago it was announced that a script was ready to go. But now the project has taken a major step forward as it looks like director Dean Parisot on board to helm the threequel.

Parisot is of course most famous for directing the hilarious Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman 1999 comedy Galaxy Quest, which showed that he knew exactly how to elicit laughs from an oddball premise. And with Bill and Ted it simply won’t get any odder.

While Bill and Ted 3 screenwriters and creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson may have attached Parisot to the project, it’s still uncertain when the directors commitment would actually begin as he is about to go into production on the sequel for 2010’s RED. But hey, we’ve waiting more than 2 decades for the Wyld Stallyns to ride again, what’s another year, right?

Besides, it’s not like Alex Winters is busy doing anything else in his career (I’m sure that Uncredited TV Gangster in The Borrowers was a highlight).

Neat. I hope they adapt some of the graphic novel material.
