Daniel Craig’s time as Bond… James Bond is coming to end. After 2015’s Spectre left audiences neither shaken nor stirred thanks to a limp-wristed story and meh plot twists, Craig infamously said that he would rather slice his own wrists than play the world’s greatest spy again. Luckily, no severed limbs were needed for Craig to eventually change his mind and strap on the Walther one last time.
Instead, all we needed was Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle along with his critically acclaimed frequent writing partner John Hodge to breathe some new life into the franchise… and then they promptly abandoned it. Cue Sony’s frantic and sometimes fumbling attempts at keeping this film on track.
It all worked out pretty well though, as after a revolving door of creatives – production shutdowns, and several release date shuffles, we finally ended up with a massively talented director in Cary Joji Fukunaga (True Detective, Maniac, Beasts of No Nation); a dangerous new villain played by Oscar-winner Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody, Mr. Robot); some ass-kicking new ladies – played by Ana de Armas and Lashana Lynch – to go with Léa Seydoux’s returning love interest; and a return to the action-packed theatrics that made James Bond a cinema icon for generations now!

Okay, so I guess the rumours were true: Christoph Waltz’s Blofeld is back. Also back? Flamboyant villains and gadgets! Yay!
Along with the trailer, we also got our first batch of character posters yesterday, giving us a closer look at the primary cast. We have Craig as Bond, Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann, Malek as Safin, Lynch as Nomi, Ben Whishaw as Q, and de Armas as Paloma.
Joining the names mentioned above, the cast also includes Ralph Fiennes, Rory Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright, David Dencik, Dali Benssalah and Billy Magnussen.
No Time to Die was originally penned by longtime franchise writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade after Boyle and Hodge’s exit, before Scott Z. Burns (Contagion, The Bourne Ultimatum) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Killing Eve, Fleabag) were brought in to punch it all up. We’ll see just how punchy they made it when the film releases in cinemas on 2 April 2020.

I’m so worried about this James Bond movie. :/ I’ve been a huge Daniel Craig Bond fan (and I still believe he managed to revitalise the franchise after nearly a decade and a half of absolute trash). But, this one has all the hallmarks of falling flat on its face. I really hope the rumours about it are unfounded…. and that Daniel Craig gets the final Bond movie he desperately deserves.
This one could easily be the Elizabeth Banks Charlie’s Angels of the James Bond franchise. The one to put the final nail in the coffin. :/

Loved his first one, then it started feeling more skop-skiet-en-donder rather than spy movies. This one looks like it may have some more “real Bond” going on, so will give it the benefit of the doubt..

I really hope so too. The pacing of his first James Bond movie was such a breath of fresh air, especially after the Pierce Brosnan movies (PS: they haven’t aged well at all).

I’m looking forward to seeing Rami Malek as a Bond villain but in all honesty this franchise needs the Christopher Nolan treatment

Maybe I should go back and watch all the old Bond movies to rejuvenate that spark of interest, because I no longer get excited for Bond movies.
