Star Wars Rebels s2 (2)

The first season of Star Wars Rebels may not have been perfect (DAT LAAITIE HAS A SPACE-KETTIE) but around the halfway mark of its debut season, it quickly got out of the growing pains phase. Great characters, great action and an even better villain in the form of the Inquisitor helped seal the deal on a great new successor to the previous Star Wars CGI series, The Clone Wars.

And a second season is on the way, at a surprisingly quick pace. Here’s the debut trailer for it, which goes into the kind of dark territory that is usually reserved for Kervyn during load0shedding.

Get your first look at Star Wars Rebels Season Two, including the return of the Ghost crew, some familiar faces, and frightening new enemies.

The smartest move that Rebels made during its first season, was providing a concrete link to the previous Star Wars series. That opened up a world of possibilities, to bring back fan favourite characters and to fill in the gaps between Star Wars episodes. But it’s a solid cast of new characters, such as the earnest Ezra, cowboy Jedi Kanan and the rest of the Spectre operatives who really helped sell the heart and warmth of the show.

And that’s something that I’m looking forward to. But new Inquisitors, Darth Vader as the primary villain and the return of the lost legion of Clone Troopers? I’m sold once again. The second season kicks off later this year in the northern summer. It’ll be preceded once again by a TV movie.

The only reason I’ll watch Rebels is because I found out Ahsoka is back, even if it’s only for a bit. She’s the bee knees.
