Kingsman: The Secret Service hit like a bolt out of the blue last year – the outrageous action-comedy that starred Colin Firth… Colin Firth… playing a (to quote Kervyn from his 4.5/5 star review) “bad ass killing machine” was one of the best and most entertaining movies of 2015. So it’s no surprise that a sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, was fast tracked.

Director Matthew Vaughn and writers Dave Gibbons and Jane Goldman are all returning, along with stars Colin Firth (who’s apparently gotten better), Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and Sophie Cookson.

Joining the sequel are Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal and, now confirmed via Twitter… Channing Tatum:

While his role is unconfirmed and the movie has yet to get an official plot synopsis, according to Deadline

…the story reportedly sees Eggsy (Egerton) and Merlin (Strong) joining forces with their American counterpart, “Statesman”, after the Kingsman organization is wiped out by the film’s villain.

Presumably Tatum will be the “Statesman”.

And in further Kingsman news, according to The Hollywood Reporter Sir Elton John is also in talks to join the next installment. Again there are no details, but on the rare occasions the legendary musician has stepped in front of the camera he’s generally played himself.

So what do you think? Happy that Magic Mike will teach Eggsy the American way to the tune of ‘The Circle of Life’?

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is set for release on 16 June 2017.
