Did you notice that this year, we have a pair of similar pairs hitting the big screen. Over in the good ol’ US of A, we’ve got the Oval Office situated action of Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down. And then we’ve got the end of the world coming up.

James Franco, Seth Rogen and friends will be handling all kinds of apocalypses in This is the end, which also features an ass-kicking of note from Hermione. Not to be outdone though, we’ll also be seeing the 51st state AKA England with their own end of times film, The World’s End. The final flavour in the cornetto trilogy of blood and death is almost here. So celebrate with a poster or two.

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Pegg), a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

The World’s end follows five mates who reunite in order to conquer a legendary pub crawl, that somehow becomes a struggle for the fate of humanity itself as the planet gets ragnaroked. It’ll also see director Edgar Wright reunite with his Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, capping off a trilogy of great films. And I can’t wait to see it in August. A trailer for the flick should also be out soon.
