Like a wise man (who invented the keytar tie) once said “I feel like I’m taking crazy pills here!” See remakes are, by default, not supposed to be good. If they were, we’d have a serious lack of source material for our poor excuses at humour around here. But just like Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead, Kimberley “Boys Don’t Cry” Pierce’s reimagining of Stephen King’s classic horror story, famously brought to life by Brian De Palma back in 1976, is actually looking pretty good.
Don’t believe me, then check out this first full trailer which shows Julianne Moore trying to win the Creepy Mom of the Year award, while Chloe Moretz gets treated like Harry Potter and makes with the telekinesis in retaliation.
A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, “Carrie” is directed by Kimberly Peirce with a screenplay by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

I just watched the whole movie in 2 minutes… Lucky for me, I’ve already seen the original and read the book, but just because it’s a remake, doesn’t justify giving everything in the trailer… seriously. But it does look amazing. Will definitely watch it.

Yeah, revealing that much is a bit annoying, but apparently this is way things are done now. *sigh*

I can’t remember the book that well at all, or the original movie for that matter. But if memory serves me right, this feels a lot closer to how the book was. If that is the case, is this really a remake or a new adaptation?

It’s supposed to be going back to King’s book, hence why the synopsis refers to it as a “reimagining” and not a remake of De Palma’s version.
