When it comes to Spider-Man, nothing defines the character more than his arch-villain the Green Goblin AKA Norman Osborn. Osborn was a presence in the first film of the rebooted trilogy, but was never actually seen, only hinted at and apparently dying of some mystery illness.
Chris Cooper got cast as the big bad not long after the sequels were greenlit for the wallcrawler. But it looks like ol’ Gobby will be playing a bigger part in the upcoming third film.
Speaking to Access Hollywood, Cooper explained that while we’d be introduced to Osborn in the sequel, we shouldn’t expect him to don the Green Goblin mask just yet;
This is an introduction to Norman Osborn, and, apparently, this leads to better things in ‘Spider-Man 3’ …I think it’s fair to say that he’s on his last legs and I don’t know if I can say anything more.
My guess? Norman has his scenes, gets sick, goes cuckoo and end credits extra scene rolls showing him doing a maniacal laugh.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be swinging in to save the day next year May. It stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti and Sally Field, with Marc Webb directing.

The artist, Mike Deodato, intentionally drew him to look like Tommy Lee Jones in Dark Avengers, much like Bryan Hitch drew Nick Fury to look like Samuel L. Jackson in The Ultimates. I’m guessing that he was hoping that like with Fury, the studios would see it, like it and then cast Jones accordingly in the movies, but it never really caught on.
