Chris Evans may have just said farewell to Captain America and Marvel

The upcoming fourth Avengers movie planned to release in early May next year is not only the culmination of more than 10 years’ worth of storytelling for Marvel studios, but also rumoured to be the end of many years of beloved characters involved in the popular franchise. The likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are all rumoured to be completing their contracts with the studio once the movie releases.

These contract completions though have never been made official and so there is still hope from many fans that the actors can somehow be persuaded by the power of both Marvel storytelling and bank balance to stay on for more films in the future. However, a recent tweet from Chris Evans following completion of some reshoots for the next Avengers film suggests that the actor may indeed be making his last appearance as the iconic Steve Rogers (aka Captain America) in the upcoming Avengers 4:

Since starring in the very first Captain America, Evan’s Rogers has been one of the key stars in Marvel’s epic interconnected storyline featuring not only as one of the core people in The Avengers films, but also seeing that each of the three Captain America films be major plot drivers that have greatly impacted the rest of the storylines.

Seeing such an important character go is definitely going to be sad for the universe regardless of what is going to happen to his character, though one hopes that Marvel keep his character alive in some form or another. However, if there is one thing Avengers: Infinity War proved, it’s that the stakes are high for Marvel this time and they aren’t afraid of killing off major characters if they have to.  So, I think many fans will need to make sure they bring their tissues to that next Avengers film.

There is no official statement from Marvel at this point in time confirming that this is the case and its possible Evans could easily just be leading fans on with this tweet or simply making reference to this big interconnected storyline from Marvel coming to an end, but Robert Downey Jr appears to have also gotten in the act with a similarly cryptic tweet in response to Evans post:

Make of that what you will, but the toy story reference I certainly a nice and highly emotional touch.

Marvel is understandably keeping their cards close to their chest when it comes to storyline details for the next Avengers film and so the fate of many of the heroes will not really be known until that movie comes out in May next year. What I guess we can safely say though is that when it does release, it may just be the biggest movie release in cinema history – and I can’t wait.

The first Captain America was stupid and boring. Winter Soldier however now that was an amazing film.

Not grumpy just think the second movie was much much better. I ain’t saying Captain America was Thor Dark World bad but it came close.

I absolutely LOVE the first Captain America…… right up until the point where Cap and the Howling Commandos start doing that Hydra attack montage. Then the film loses so much heart and just becomes a bunch of CG action noise.

Nothing in that movie can even come close to the tension created when SHIELD officers had to choose between Cap and their Orders.

        Now that was cinema.

Oh it was definitely needed. And I don’t hate it at all. I just love the first two acts way more than the third.

Well the fight afterwards was a slaughter, the actual fight was pretty much a Khabib dry humping McGregor for 20 minutes followed by well executed choke hold. Was like watching a PG rated Pornhub clip.

What about Khabib actually out boxing a striker like Conor, or the fact he clipped him in the second round that made him drop to his knees? The “dry humping” as you put it is part of Khabib’s Sambo, and look how well he controlled Conor every time he tries to get up, locked those legs and pounded on him, like he said he would do.

He pounded him for 60 seconds in round 3.

He hold his own for the minute or 2 they were not on the ground definitely not dominated.

Khabib did what Khabib does, you were an idiot if you bet on an out of shape McGregor.

My point overhyped non-entertaining fight. At this point UFC is overhyping these fights and rivalries up to the point they might as well merge with WWE

Wasnt fun to watch at all.

Khabibs sambo does not make for entertaining fights.

Smoosh a dude against the fence and sit on top of him untill an opportunity shows up or the match ends.

Khabib flipped out about insults after the match jumped out of the ring and fought McGregors team, same time Khabib’s team rushed across the ring McGregor sucker punched on of them and then Khabib’s team pounded McGregor inside the ring.

Way more entertaining than the fight itself.

Khabib only had beef with Dillon Denis, who was hurling insults to Khabib after the win.

Part of Khabib’s team….Punched Conor cause he started it by punching another Khabib team mate who had a black shirt on.

Well, they already have characters who replaced him in the comics lined up in the current MCU, don’t they? I believe both Bucky and Falcon at some point donned the suit/shield?

As for Stark, they already have him with a little Cameo in Spiderman, so perhaps they can keep him on like that? Training and mentoring the young ones, doing press conferences etc. I don’t know what more we can do with a solo Ironman movie, except use it to create a replacement for him, moving him further into the family life with Pepper and the mentoring role?

Won’t be the same without them, but I am sure we will manage.

Re: Stark, I want them to take the direction they did in the comics after Civil War by making Tony the new Director of SHIELD. That way RDJ can still be around in the way Samuel L Jackson is now, just popping up from time to time in all the movies.
