To say that I’m just not fond of Kristen Stewart’s acting, is kind of like saying that I’m just not fond of being punched in the throat. Despite her full emotional range only consisting of two pained frowns and a singular gasp, she somehow remains popular enough to land roles opposite major actors above her caliber.

Case in point: Clouds of Sils Maria, a new drama in which she co-stars with her much more talented contemporary, Chloe Grace-Moretz, and even gets to make the love-sick google eyes at Juliette Binoche.

At the peak of her international career, Maria Enders (Juliette Binoche) is asked to perform in a revival of the play that made her famous twenty years ago. But back then she played the role of Sigrid, an alluring young girl who disarms and eventually drives her boss Helena to suicide. Now she is being asked to step into the other role, that of the older Helena.

She departs with her assistant (Kristen Stewart) to rehearse in Sils Maria; a remote region of the Alps. A young Hollywood starlet with a penchant for scandal (Chloë Grace Moretz) is to take on the role of Sigrid, and Maria finds herself on the other side of the mirror, face to face with an ambiguously charming woman who is, in essence, an unsettling reflection of herself.

Clouds of Sils Maria is written and directed by Olivier Assayas, and does not have a scheduled release date yet.

It’s because movie execs still believe people will go watch a movie simply because of an actor’s name, or “actor” in her case.

Looking very much forward to see this. Other reviews I have read have been much more in favor of Kristen. Haters gonna hate.
