Oh bother! It appears that anything a girl riding around in a pumpkin and a flying elephant can do, a bear with a narcotic addition to honey can do… well, maybe not better but definitely do as well. Yes, following in the footsteps of the recently released box-office smash Cinderella and Tim Burton’s upcoming Dumbo, Disney will once again be giving one of their classic animated properties the live-action feature film treatment: Winnie the Pooh.

Deadline reports that the House of Mouse has tapped indie filmmaker Alex Ross Perry to pen this live-action version of the famed children’s cartoon based on A.A. Milne’s books, which saw the titular Pooh bear and his owner/best friend Christopher Robin getting up to all sorts of adventures with their famous friends like Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet and Eeyore in the Hundred Acre Woods. Most of these adventures often involved the air-headed Pooh trying to get said head into a jar of honey.

According to Deadline, the live-action film will apparently be taking a page out of Hook‘s book, as this new version will focus on an adult Christopher Robin as he returns to his childhood friends. Hopefully, the animals haven’t aged accordingly as well, as I don’t think I could handle an old and senile donkey that talks even slower!

Speaking of which, Pajiba has put together this fan-cast list of actors who should play the various roles, and they’re about as spot on as can be. J.K. Simmons as Rabbit and Audrey Plaza as Eeyore are particularly inspired choices.

So would you actually be interested in a live-action Winnie Pooh or do you think this new Disney trend should die out before it even starts?
