Disney short series to retell STAR WARS from your favourite droids' perspective

It’s less than a year to go before the much-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits our screens (18 December!). And while the animated series Star Wars: Rebels is currently providing Star Wars fans with their much-needed fix, Disney is planning a unique recap of the events of the first six movies for those in need of a refresher – enter Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales.

Set to air during the course of the year the animated Lego-form short series will consist of five 22-minute long episodes and retell events from the perspective of everyone’s favourite droid R2-D2. And C-3PO. Honestly, who likes C-3PO? But they’re a package deal, I suppose. “Oh my, I do believe they’re shooting at us R2! Let me shuffle along like an octogenarian while babbling inanities.” Anyway, I digress.

The series will also include an original short story involving the kidnap of the droids to propel the recap of events (via Hollywood Reporter):

Set after the Rebel Alliance victory on Endor seen at the end of Return of the Jedi, the droids are regaling the assembly with their adventures that led them to their present situation. An accidental kidnapping leads to a new adventure that progresses to the retelling of the saga in chronological order, from The Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi.

How does one accidentally get kidnapped? Can C-3PO “accidentally” not get rescued? That’ll be up to the as-yet unannounced writers and director of the series. See below for an A to Z selection of Lego characters who could make an appearance. Note who “C” isn’t. (Full-size link)
