Drew Goddard to write and direct a new SPIDER-MAN reboot for Sony and Marvel

Ladies and gentlemen, the next era of Spider-Man now has a new guiding hand. Sony and Marvel reaching a deal that benefited both parties with an arrangement to use the character in films from both of those studios, was good news for the fans. And now, it’s Drew @Cabin In The Woods” Goddard who’ll be rebooting the character as a writer and director on the next film. And it’s a decision that makes the most sense.

Spidey (5)

Goddard is already familiar with both Sony and Marvel. Having worked with Avengers helmer Joss Whedon on his TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel, Goddard then went on to direct The Cabin In The Woods. Add to that his writing work on Marvel’s Daredevil Netflix series and his focus on a Sinister Six spin-off for Sony that has most likely been canned in favour of this new direction, and Goddard is an obvious choice here.

According to Latino Review, Goddard’s Spider-Man won’t be yet another origin story, but it will star an webhead who has established himself already. This Spidey still needs to be cast, with Marvel wanting a younger high school character that will grow into the role, which will most likely suit a multi-picture deal that Marvel movie actors are signed up for in their contracts.

According to the LR rumour mill, the first film starring the new Spidey will see him going toe to toe with Iron Man, and then trying to pass the ‘audition’ to join the Avengers.” Sounds like classic Spidey then. Casting needs to be be done quickly however, as the character is scheduled to appear in Captain America: Civil War in May 2016, before he gets a new solo film in July 2017.

Wonder if they are gonna continue with Peter Parker or take the diffrenent approach and go with Miles Morales the Black-Hispanic Spider Man, I’ve got a good idea that they are going with Miles.
