Life is like a hurricane, here in, Duckberg! Race cars lasers aeroplanes! It’s a, duck blur! If you could read the first line of this story and know exactly what I’m talking about, then chances are that you were also raised on a steady diet of Disney cartoons. Much like the famed animator had a renaissance of talent that resulted in various quality movies being produced through the late 1980s all the way through to the start of the 2000s, Disney also had some serious skills on show on the smaller screen.

Duck Tales

You can thank Duck Tales for that, as Disney poured some serious effort and cash into creating this cartoon when it debuted in 1987. Starring the tight-feathered Scottish mallard Scrooge McDuck and his trio of incorrigible nephews, the gang would regularly engage in adventures that resulted in Scrooge hogging more of the 1% of wealth in the world, all for himself. And sometimes, he grew richer emotionally as well. But mostly financially. Rich bastard.

Duck Tales paved the way for more great cartoons, from Chip ‘N Dale Rescue Rangers to Tail Spin (OH WEE OH!) and beyond. Now, Disney is going back to the original hit show for a brand new series that will debut in 2017. Marc Buhaj, Disney XD’s Senior Vice President, suggested to Collider that the new series will be created in the same spirit as the old one:

DuckTales has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history; it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books, and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.

According to Disney, Scrooge and his nephews will be joined by other series regulars such as Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), as well as Mrs. Beakley. Donald Duck will presumably still be in the Navy.

And on that note, we cue the catchy theme song:
