Spin-offs of horror franchises aren’t that uncommon: A Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday The 13th both had some time in TV land, and even Buffy’s vampire slaying started on the big screen. You may soon add The Evil Dead to that list. According to news from Comic Con San Diego the creators of the Evil Dead films – Sam Raimi, brother Ted and frequent collaborator Bruce Campbell – are working on an Evil Dead TV spin-off.
Details more or less end there – Raimi just mentioned the idea at CCSD, so perhaps he’s testing the water. Certainly last year’s revival of The Evil Dead got people interested again and kept long-time fans on board. But with no sequel planned for that, there is scope for a TV series.
Still – what would it be about? People stuck in the same cabin every week? The adventures of Bruce Campbell vs deadites – Supernatural meets chainsaws? (Probably not – he already had one other TV show before and that was sadly cancelled, though they have plenty of comics to work from). Or could it be new characters, but in the post-Army Of Darkness world filled with the evil? Perhaps it will base itself on the more intense remake?

I wouldn’t say no to an Army of Darkness style TV series. Hail to the king, baby!

Yeah, I’d be keen to see what they come up with.
