Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

  • And those Planet Hulk links just get stronger and stronger. After Mark Ruffalo’s spoiler-tastic revelations earlier in the week, Galaxy of the Guardians director James Gunn just added some fuel to the gamma-fire when he posted this new set pic from his upcoming Marvel space epic. At first glance, it looks to just be another one of the wacky alien sets used for the movie, but according to Gunn himself, those are Sakaaran guards you’re seeing. Sakaaran as in the inhabitants of the planet Sakaar, as in the place where the whole Planet Hulk storyline takes place.

  • There’s a story going around that upcoming requel (reboot/sequel hybrid) Terminator: Genesis may be getting a name change. Or a name shortening to be more precise. Bleeding Cool’s sources are reporting that all toys and tie-in merchandise for the upcoming movie are simply being branded with “Terminator”, with no “Genesis” in site. And no, not THE Terminator like the original film, just Terminator.
  • Look, we get it. Han Solo is one of the coolest characters in movie history, and you have had illicit dreams about him since you were a kid (I don’t want to know who shot first). But please, whatever you do, don’t legally change your name to his, as one unlucky British man recently found out. See, since Solo is a fictional character, he – and so too the man now using his name – is unable to get a passport and was thus prevented from travelling outside of England.
  • Poster of the Day: Orange Is The New Black “Pennsatucky” poster

  • Attention Cameron Diaz fans. And by that I am not referring to people who are fans of her acting and quirky characters, but rather the folks that perv over the age-defying good looks. Because it seems a good look is exactly what you’re going to get in upcoming R-rated comedy Sex Tape, as Diaz has revealed that not only will she be shedding some clothes on camera for the first time, but she’ll be going full frontal.
“It’s a first for me. But Jason (Segel) gets naked, too. It’s just a part of the role. So I did it. I mean you see everything.”
I get a feeling that a lot of people are suddenly looking forward to seeing this movie.

The cosplayer, Liui Aquino, says that these a virtually the raw photos, but there must be some Photoshop magic being applied here, because this is just too good to be true. And the same can be said for all the other cosplay this guy has done, which all also look like they’ve stepped straight off the screen.

  • Speaking of Disney, they look to cast a spell on the box office once again as they’ve tapped The Smurfs writers David Stem and David N. Weiss to pen a script for a sequel to their huge 2007 hit Enchanted. The first film saw Amy Adams play a typical Disney princess who is banished from the animated cartoon world of Andalasia to the real world, where she meets her true “prince” in Patrick Dempsey. Susan Sarandon played the wicked queen who does the banishing, while James Marsden played her dashing but doltish prince son. John Travolta’s favourite actress, Adele Dazeem, also starred.
  • Because absolutely no one here asked for it, here’s the Jurassic Park theme…as sung by goats.

  • According to CBS, the planet is going to the dogs. And cats. And parakeets. And pretty much every other animal out there. The US TV network has ordered a straight-to-series 13 episode adaptation of James Patterson’s 2102 novel Zoo, which is set to debut mid-2015. The novel tells of a worldwide plague that causes animals to go plain bonkers and violently attack people in increasingly co-ordinated waves. Here’s the official blurb:

All over the world, brutal animal attacks are crippling entire cities. Jackson Oz, a young biologist, watches the escalating events with an increasing sense of dread. When he witnesses a coordinated lion ambush in Africa, the enormity of the impending violence becomes terrifyingly clear.

With the help of ecologist Chloe Tousignant, Oz races to warn world leaders before it’s too late. The attacks are growing in ferocity, cunning, and planning, and soon there will be no place left for humans to hide.

While there’s no casting news yet, the show already has quite a lot of talent behind the camera. James Mangold (Walk The Line, The Wolverine) is executive producing alongside the group of Jeff Pinkner (Fringe, Almost Human), Josh Appelbaum (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Life on Mars, Alias), Andre Nemec (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Life on Mars, Alias) and Scott Rosenberg (Con-Air, High Fidelity, Gone in 60 Seconds) who will all also be on scripting duties.

  • And what better way to carry on our ape-based shenanigans this week (Besides watching a web feed of our working environment here at The Movies) than with some trivia? Here’s seven things that you didn’t know about The Planet Of The Apes. Probably. Maybe.
