Extras-750-final

Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

  • There are just 15 days – 15 DAYS! – left until the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it seems that even people from 1995 are excited for it!

  • Quorra’s coming back! No, not Kora the Avatar. And not Quora, that question and answer site that nobody uses. I’m talking Quorra, Olivia Wilde’s AI character from Tron Legacy, who has now just been confirmed to be returning for the upcoming Tron 3. In celebration, I will be listening to Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy soundtrack all day, because any excuse to do so is good enough for me.
  • Poster of the day: Insidious: Chapter 3

“That is absolutely untrue. That rumour started on the internet, and the internet is a pest. The name of my character is Franz Oberhauser.”

Thanks for that update, Christoph. Now can you please go take your seat next to Naomie Harris, who was totally not playing Moneypenny, and Benedict Cumberbatch, who was definitely not playing Khan.

  • Somebody has sent thousands of copies of The Interview via balloons into North Korea. Had the James Franco/Seth Rogen movie actually been good, I would have said this was a prank, but as it is, I’m more inclined to label this as inhuman psychological warfare.
  • As you may have heard, Marvel’s new Daredevil TV series is “bloody fantastic”. The same cannot be said for 2003 Daredevil movie starring Ben Affleck. Sure, the Director’s Cut gave us a much, much better product in the end, but let’s be honest: Matt Murdock should be happy he was blind, so that he couldn’t see how crap his own movie was.

  • I loved the cool badassness of John Wick and cannot wait for more. One of the most interesting aspects of the film was this greater world of underground killers that was just hinted. According to star Keanu Reeves, we’re going to see a bit more of that in the sequel.

“The world of the Continental Hotel, I think, is definitely going to be explored and expanded… Whatever happens, I think it has to stay personal and part of what his life is… I loved playing the character, so it would be fun to play him again…”

  • This is very very old news that some of you may know already, but which I somehow only discovered recently in connection with my story about how the actors in the new Fantastic Four reboot were picked for their dramatic ability. That was apparently not the case for the previous two Fantastic Fours, much to the chagrin of Jessica Alba who played invisible superhero Sue Storm in them. According to Alba, she very nearly quit acting completely after her attempts to bring some real pathos to her character were met with the weirdest criticisms from director

“[The director told me] ‘It looks too real. It looks too painful. Can you be prettier when you cry? Cry pretty, Jessica.’ He was like, ‘Don’t do that thing with your face. Just make it flat. We can CGI the tears in.'”

I wonder if they CGI’d the scowl in for Kristen Stewart in all the Twilight movies.

  • You know nothing… about attending dinner parties, Jon Snow!
