Extras-750-final Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

  • I recently rewatched Gareth Evans’ Godzilla, and during the entire movie I kept thinking about how it would make an awesome 8-bit video game, if you know what I mean? You do know what I mean, right? Anyone?… Hello?… Well, the folks at 8-Bit Cinema clearly know what I mean!

“I know more than I’m allowed to say right now. I can say I’m really excited about Drew Goddard, who’s going to be writing and directing… [W]hether I’m involved in that or not is kind of immaterial.”

  • Poster: John Wick

  • If you looked at that trailer for Season 5 of The Walking Dead yesterday and instantly groaned like the undead at the thought of more zombies on TV, well then I have some bad news for you. AMC has officially ordered a pilot episode for a new Walking Dead companion show. While this won’t be spinning off from the existing show (by, say, following one of the existing characters off on a different journey), it will exist in the same world at the same time. Robert Kirkman, creator of the Walking Dead comic book and also executive producer on this new show, explains:

“There are many corners of The Walking Dead universe that remain unseen in the shadows. Being given the opportunity to shine a light into those corners and see what lurks out there is an absolute thrill. I know the fans are anxious to hear what Dave and I have been cooking up for this new universe of The Walking Dead, and I’m happy to be one step closer to sharing it with them.”

  • So a totally ordinary young lady may just have inadvertently discovered one of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s most well-kept secrets: Whether or not Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor will be bald. Nicole Yioupis ran into Eisenberg somewhere, and the young actor let her take a pic with him, which she subsequently tweeted.

Now, if you’re like the folks at MTV who spotted this pic, you would probably notice that that rakish head of hair looks absolutely nothing like Eisenberg’s normally curly mop, which means that either Eisenberg has just discovered the magic of a GHD, or that’s a (pretty terrible) wig to hide his Lex-tastic dome.

  • Armageddon and Deep ImpactWhite House Down and Olympus Has Fallen. [Random Michael Bay movie] and 2 Girls 1 Cup. Every few years Hollywood seems to produced two movies that are almost copies of each other. You may think that we’re exempt of this plagiarism this year, but then you clearly haven’t taken a close enough look at the Robert Downey Jr. drama The Judge, and the Jason Bateman ensemble comedy This Is Where I Leave You, which are totally the same movie.
  • With Warner Bros insisting that their movie and TV universe remains separate for now, it may be a while until we get the answer on who’s faster, Superman or the Flash? Luckily, we have hilarious videos like this to figure it out in the meantime.

  • Director David Fincher (Fight Club, The Social Network, Se7en) and screenwriter/author James Elroy (L.A. Confidential) are working on a 1950’s crime noir drama series for HBO. There is absolutely zero further information beyond that, but honestly, if that sentence doesn’t get you excited then I seriously think it’s time we rethink our friendship.
  • Marvel’s new Agent Carter TV series is only debuting in a few months, taking the place of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when it takes it’s mid-season hiatus, but it looks like we’ll be getting some Peggy Carter action much sooner than expected. Its been revealed that Hayley Atwell will in fact be making her TV debut in the role during the season 2 premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Since Peggy Carter was one of the people that founded S.H.I.E.L.D. in the late 1940’s, I’m guessing that this will be some sort of flashback. Either that, or Ms Atwell is breaking out the really old lady makeup again.

Along with that revelation, Marvel have also released this synopsis for the season premiere, titled “Shadows”, which gives a good indication of the new direction of the show:

Coulson and his team are now wanted fugitives with limited resources–but that’s not stopping them from keeping the world safe from powerful and unseen threats everywhere. However, with new members they hardly know, will S.H.I.E.L.D. ever be trusted again?

  • No, I also don’t have any idea why Disney has decided to remake the Duck Tales intro with real ducks, but I’ll be damned if I don’t appreciate it. So without further ado: DUCK TALES! WHOO-HOO! (try getting that out of your head for the rest of the day).
